No matter how old you are, there’s something incredibly captivating about magic. We love to be fooled, to try to figure out the sleight-of-hand behind a trick, and ultimately to shake our heads and marvel in awe. And at Walt Disney World, the most magical place on earth, it was only a matter of time before a magician-themed lounge appeared! Here are 8 things that will have you running to Abracadabar faster than you can say “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo”.
1. Location
If you’re taking a break from the crowds at Disney Springs but still looking for a fantastic lounge environment, this is the perfect spot! Located on the BoardWalk, beside Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort, Abracadabar occupies a prime location boasting great views and proximity to a ton of great shops and restaurants. We love how easy Abracadabar is to reach from both Hollywood Studios and Epcot, even if you’re not staying at a resort near the BoardWalk.
2. Backstory
Disney is well-known for crafting creative backstories for its attractions, and increasingly for lounges and restaurants too. Abracadabar’s backstory hearkens back to 1940 – check out the newspaper on the wall from the same year – when a group of magicians and performers who used Abracabar as their secret lair suddenly and mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind the venue you see now. When you visit this atmospheric jewel of a lounge, you might just start believing this mysterious tale!
3. Ambience
Stepping in Walt Disney World’s Abracadabar is like stepping into another realm – you’re immediately welcomed by rich textures and warm tones. A tin ceiling sparkles above you, while beautiful damask wallpaper, deep wood paneling and red and gold curtains envelope you in a comfortable, yet ever-so-fancy, cocoon. And that’s just the start! Magic surrounds you at Abracadabar, wherever you look. Make sure you wander around and discover the wall of mirrors, the dizzying geometrically patterned floor, and the cabinets and wall art full of magicians’ tricks and props, including a straight jacket, magic wands, and old keys and handcuffs. You can sit at high or low tables, in a variety of seating (we love the drum stools and the sofa by the window!).

4. Drinks
You’ll find alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at Abracadabar, and there’s something for every taste, from sweet to savory to sour. The Seashore Sweet is a hit for guests with a sweet tooth – it features lemonade and cotton candy, which you can actually watch disappear as the drink is poured in front of you (you’ll even enjoy extra cotton candy on the side). Pepper’s Ghost delivers quite a kick – of both alcohol and spices – and it’s a great way to blend sweet and spicy, if you can’t decide which you’re in the mood for. Magic Mirror is a great option for budding young magicians, starring lime juice, Sprite and mango. You can also get your drinks to go in plastic cups, although we recommend sticking around to enjoy the atmosphere!
5. Snack
If you’ve perused the menu online (something we always suggest when planning a Walt Disney World vacation!), you’ll have noticed that there are no snacks listed on Abracadabar’s menu. And while it is very true that you can’t order any eats at this lounge, with the purchase of a drink, a complimentary serving of curry-dusted popcorn with chickpeas will arrive at your table. We’re not quite sure why we never thought of adding chickpeas to popcorn, because the combination is delightful, and the spice shouldn’t be overpowering to most guests.
6. Hidden Mickeys
If you’ve ever scrutinized a magic act trying to find out the trick for yourself, you’ll know how frustrating it can be! Luckily, you’ll have much more luck discovering magic of a different sort – hunting for Hidden Mickeys in Abracadabar. Start by examining the stained glass panel above the door, and then move on to the framed magic cards in the hallway near the washrooms. And while it’s not quite a Hidden Mickey, if you look closely at the red and gold wallpaper, you may even spot a hidden magician! Of course, if you keep at it long enough, you may even find some Hidden Mickeys we didn’t even know were there.
7. Details
After looking around Abracadabar, you may think you’ve seen everything – but we can pretty much guarantee you haven’t. The attention to detail for which Disney is famous is hard at work in this lounge, so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled! Fun touches, like magician-ified washroom signs, are everywhere. You may hear bits and pieces of a magic show, like applause, coming from the Stage Door. And don’t forget to examine the menu for fun Disney nods: Pepper’s Ghost refers to the trick used to create the dancing ghosts in Haunted Mansion, while Seashore Sweet references a store that used to be on this spot.
8. Bartenders
We don’t know of anywhere else in Disney World where the bartenders are also magicians! Your bartender may perform the “Flying Coaster” trick for you, or melt your cotton candy before your eyes. But the real magic happens when you order the Conjurita, a magical margarita that will be poured at your table, and changes color in front of you! Cast members at Abracadabar are entertaining, knowledgeable and excellent at providing that famous Disney service, with a smile. Cheers!
