8 Things You Will Love About Cape May Café At Walt Disney World

1. The Characters

If you visit for breakfast you will be greeted by Minnie and her friends during your meal. Often these friends are Goofy, Donald, and Daisy but “friend” characters are subject to change. They will visit your table for pictures and autographs as you eat. It’s a fun way to start your day. Best of all the characters come dressed in their finest beach attire!

2. It’s a buffet

No matter which meal you choose to eat at Cape May Café it will always be a buffet. At a buffet you will get your money’s worth. Seafood isn’t cheap, but here you can eat seafood to your heart’s content for one set price. They have a broad selection of clams, shrimp, mussels, crab legs,  salmon and more. You won’t go away hungry.

3. It’s not all seafood

Do you have that one person in your family that doesn’t like seafood? Cape May Café is a great choice for families that have a variety of food preferences. Not only do they have a kid’s buffet area with foods kids love such as macaroni and cheese, but they also have an entire portion of the buffet dedicated to non-seafood items. Salad, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, ribs, chicken, pasta, and a carving station. Every member of your family should be able to find something they like.

4. The Décor

You may be in Florida, but Cape May Café has all the ambiance of a seaside afternoon in New England. From the murals on the walls to wave-edged pergola covered booths, you will feel as if the Atlantic Ocean is right out the door. One of my favorite features is the croquet sets that cover the columns in the middle of the restaurant. It is reminiscent of lazy summer days of the past.

5. Crab Legs

If you like crab legs or have ever wanted to try them, but didn’t want to order just crab legs, this is the place with all you can eat crab legs at both lunch and dinner. They will even show you the best way to get the meat out if you have never tried to crack them open before so you don’t have to sit their frustrated struggling to get to your dinner!

6. Location

If you don’t know your way around it can sometimes be difficult to figure out how to get to the different resorts to eat. Cape May Café is conveniently located at the Beach Club. But even if you aren’t staying at the Beach Club, but rather at the Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Swan, or Dolphin you are within walking distance. Not staying at one of these resorts? No problem. Consider visiting Cape May’s Café on a day you plan to be in EPCOT. It is just a short walk from the International Gateway Park entrance between France and England.

7. One Dining Credit

If you are using the Disney Dining plan this is a great option because it only uses one table service credit. As a bonus, you get to enjoy the ambience of the Beach Club before and after your meal without being rushed back into the park crowds. You can enjoy the lagoon outside the Beach Club, or watch the sunset on the beach. No matter your choice, you are getting the value out of your meal credit when you visit.

8. The desserts

If you are like me, you have full intentions of saving room for dessert, but often find yourself stuffed at the end of a buffet meal. Cape May’s puts the desserts right in the entry way so you are tempted before you even get your first plate. But what makes it great is that they serve many bite-sized desserts. Not only will you always be able to find a little room for some sweets, but you can try several different desserts without feeling guilty. They have many decadent and fancy choices, but my favorite is the cookie buffet for kids. It’s hard to beat a good chocolate chip cookie!

About Hilary Whitaker

I am a lifelong Disney fan. On my first trip to Disney World I was 3 years old. I have returned nearly 40 times since. I have traveled with kids, adult only trips, girl’s weekends, and multigenerational family trips. What I have always loved about Disney is that no matter the age of those traveling, there is always something to enjoy. I have also been to Disneyland multiple times, sailed with Disney Cruise lines, visited Disneyland Paris and traveled with Adventures by Disney to Peru. So to say I am hooked on travel and the Disney experience is an understatement. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do and Disney knows how to provide an excellent experience for guests. Because of my varied experiences I am able to help other families with their unique travel needs. I truly enjoy helping others discover the magic of a Disney vacation the way I did when I was a child and continue to do each time I visit.
