Universal Orlando Visitors in June Are in for Some Unwelcome Surprises

There is nothing more frustrating on a theme park vacation than showing up at a ride you have been looking forward to and finding it closed for a refurbishment that has been on the schedule for months. It happens constantly at every major theme park destination, and it is almost entirely preventable with a quick check before leaving home.

Universal Orlando Resort has multiple ride closures scheduled across June at both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. Some are brief. Some extend well beyond June. All of them are worth knowing before finalizing any June itinerary.

Islands of Adventure

Jurassic Park River Adventure is the biggest closure to be aware of. The attraction has been closed since January 5, 2026, and will not reopen until November 19, 2026. That is a nearly year-long refurbishment that covers every visit between now and late fall. Guests who have Jurassic Park River Adventure on their June must-do list should remove it from the plan entirely.

Pteranodon Flyers has been closed since February 27, 2026, and is scheduled to reopen on July 2, 2026. The reopening falls one day after June ends, meaning every June visitor will miss it, regardless of when they visit during the month. For guests with flexibility who can extend their trip into early July, it may be worth monitoring the status as the date approaches.

The Me Ship The Olive, the Popeye ship walkthrough in Toon Lagoon, closed on May 26, 2026, for a short refurbishment and is scheduled to reopen on June 9. Guests visiting in the first week of June will find it unavailable. Anyone arriving after June 9 should have access.

Universal Studios Florida

Men in Black Alien Attack is closed from June 1 through June 26. That covers nearly the entire month and means the majority of June visitors will not be able to ride it. The scheduled reopening is June 26 so guests visiting in the final days of the month may find it back in operation.

The Horror Make-Up Show closed on May 12, 2026, for an update and will reopen sometime in late 2026 with no specific date announced. June visitors should not plan around it being available.

Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp and the Po Live show both closed on May 18, 2026, and will remain closed until July 3, 2026. Families who were anticipating either of the Kung Fu Panda experiences will find both unavailable for the entire month of June.

What Is Open

Epic Universe and Volcano Bay have no closures currently scheduled for June and are fully operational. The resort’s newest park is running everything it opened with, and Volcano Bay is fully available for the month.

The closures in June are concentrated at Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. Adjusting the itinerary to account for what will not be available and leaning into Epic Universe and Volcano Bay on days when closed attractions would have been stops is the straightforward way to keep a June visit from running into unexpected disappointment.

Read the list, adjust the plan, and enjoy the trip.
