8 Things to Know About Senses Spa at Walt Disney World

To most people vacation is all about rest and relaxation but when you think of a Walt Disney World Vacation that may not be the first things that comes to mind.  But, the Walt Disney World Resort is home to not 1, but 2 Senses Spas to cater to all of your relaxation needs.  So whether you are visiting for a honeymoon, girls’ getaway, or a family vacation take a look at what Senses Spa has to offer and see if it is a good fit for your trip.  Here are 8 things you should know about the Spas:

8. Locations

Senses Spa has two locations inside Walt Disney World resorts, the Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs.  Guests may visit the spas from any resort or even if you are staying off-property.  The Grand Floridian location is set in the most luxurious of Disney resorts and makes a great back drop for your spa experience.  Saratoga Springs is in a great location adjacent to Disney Springs which allows for a relaxing spa afternoon followed by some fantastic dining and shopping.

7. Manicure/Pedicure options

While you may not want to take the time out of your Walt Disney World vacation for a full spa treatment, you may want to consider a Mani/Pedi option at Senses Spa.  Again, this is a great option for a girls getaway, a bachelorette party, or even a wedding party to prepare for the big day.  They offer nail enhancements, nail add-ons, and shellac manicures, but my favorites are the Orange Blossom Mani/Pedi or the Custom.  The Orange Blossom features the scent of our Signature orange blossom oil, and includes an aromatic exfoliation, nourishing mask, warm stones and paraffin.  The Custom Mani/Pedi adds a little Disney magic including a selection of essential oils named after famous Disney songs.

6. Facilities

Both Senses Spas at the Grand Floridian and Saratoga Spring offer their facilities to guests with appointments to use during the day of their appointment.  These facilities include a whirlpool, steam room and relaxation lounge.  So, you can make a full spa day (or part of the day) during your vacation.  Light snacks and beverages are available in the relaxation room.  Note that swimsuits are required to use these areas.

5. Facials

It is not often that I get to pamper myself with a facial treatment, so during my Walt Disney World vacation seems like the perfect time.  In fact, I may need to do a little more hands-on research into this topic.  The Senses Spas offer quite a few options.  Their signature treatment is a Vitamin C facial, but they also offer a Gentleman’s Facial,  a Custom Facial, Tropical Immersion Facial, and many others.

4. Things to Know

Sometimes visiting a spa can produce a little anxiety not know exactly what to expect, but here are a few things to keep in mind for your appointment.  Appointments should be made ahead of time (as far in advance as you can), and plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your service.  You must cancel 6 hours or more ahead of your appointment or you will be charged the full amount (be sure to verify the cancellation policy when you book).  You can request a male or female for your treatment when you make your appointment and Senses will try to fulfill that request.  Robes and slippers are provided in the locker room for use before and after your appointment.  20% gratuity is automatically added, but you are free to tip an additional amount at your discretion.  Spa treatments are for ages 18 & up, except for the special services for ages 4-12.  You are encouraged to leave mobile devices in your resort room, but if you bring one it must be silenced at all times.

3. Massage

Ahhhh, a massage!  Such a perfect thing to incorporate into a Walt Disney World Vacation, especially with all of the walking and standing (and sometimes tension).  Senses Spa has a full menu of massage treatments including an Expectant Mother Massage, Warm Stone Massage, Aromatherapy and Couples Massages.  Again, the signature treatment features Citrus with the Citrus Grove Signature Massage—I’ll let their description speak for itself (because it sounds heavenly):  “Let us indulge you with our customized Signature relaxation massage. Begin with an application of our Signature blended oil followed by a hydrating body soufflé. Then enjoy being wrapped in a warm cocoon. The relaxation continues with a soothing scalp massage and cool stone pressure point massage. We finish it all off with a hydrating foot treatment including reflexology for the ultimate treat!”  I think the perfect situation to incorporate a massage is if you are at Walt Disney World for a Run Disney event.  Run a half marathon one day, have a spa day with a Leg & Foot Intensive massage.

2. Services for Children

Lots of little girls would love a spa day with their mom or big sister, and Senses Spa offers a mani/pedi treatment for children ages 4-12.  This is also really nice for bridal parties so that flower girls or younger attendants can be included.   The Sweet Treats Manicure and Pedicure incorporates a sweet surprise at the end of the treatment.

1. Packages

Senses Spa at Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs offers packages to bundle your preferred spa treatments and create a day of R & R on your vacation.  The range from the “Make Your Own Magic” package featuring 5 treatments (one from each category) to the “Me Time” package with 3 treatments.  There is a Spa for Two package (perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary).  And you can combine all of those signature Citrus treatments together into a package.  Bundling can save you some money if you want to have a full or half day in the spa.

I am a long time Disney fan since I was hooked on Walt Disney World with my first trip in 1987. Since that time I’ve tried experiencing everything I can in the parks, with a total of 30 visits and counting (I’m always planning my next trip) to Walt Disney World—not to mention Disney Cruise Line and even (shhh!) Universal Orlando and Sea World. I’ve turned my Disney obsession into a profession helping others plan their magical vacations as a Dream Vacation Maker at LBAC Travel. I am a work at home mom to three wonderful boys, and each one… More »
