Galaxy’s Edge has been open for a few months allowing guests to experience the newest land at Walt Disney World.  If you are heading down to visit the planet of Batuu, you won’t want to miss out on these incredible things that this new, amazing land has to offer.

1. Oga’s Cantina

All Star Wars fans should experience Oga’s Cantina.  Here guests can enjoy specialty drinks and a few small bites while listening to DJ R-3X, a former Starspeeder 3000 pilot, as he brings in the music.  Here bounty hunters, smugglers, rogue traders and weary travelers come together to have a great time with music, drinks and meetings.  This is an incredible experience for Star Wars fans as they can feel like they are transferred into the Star War trilogy.

2. Fly the Millennium Falcon

One of the most incredible parts of Galaxy’s Edge is that guests can fly the Millennium Falcon.  Guests can either be a pilot, gunner or a mechanic as six people work together to fly fastest ship in the galaxy and successfully complete their mission.  Don’t forget to take in the queue as well before flying away.  This detailed queue makes the experience even more impressive.

3. Roaming Characters

Unlike any other Walt Disney World park, the Black Spire Outpost has a variety of characters walking around interacting with the land itself as well as guests.  Chewbacca, Rey, Kylo Ren, Vi Moradi and members of the First Order can all be seen walking around, working on ships or trying to smuggle items without being caught.  This is an incredible experience as guests won’t have one like it anywhere else in Walt Disney World.  In most other locations, guests will find characters at specific meet and greet locations, but here in a special galaxy, characters mingle with guests.

4. Creating a piece of the force

One of the most incredible parts of Galaxy’s Edge is that guests can create their own lightsabers and droids.  At Savi’s Workshop guests are given the opportunity to assemble their own lightsaber.  Choosing from four different hilt themes, guests then use their very own kyber crystal to bring their new lightsaber to life. Also, in Galaxy’s Edge is Droid Depot.  Here guests are able to choose from two different droid series (R- series or a BB-series) before gathering scrap metal (parts) for their droids.  Guests can pick from a variety of different colors at a conveyor belt before heading over to assemble and bring to life their droids.  Although they aren’t allowed to be out throughout the land, droids do interact with the land with noses and movements.  This is an incredible way to make Batuu even more immersive.

5. Datapad on Play Disney Parks Mobile App

Guests will want to download Disney’s Play Disney Parks App prior to visiting Walt Disney World. This app is a great way to entertain little ones, learn trivia and have fun throughout the theme parks.  When activated on Batuu, it becomes a datapad for guests allowing them an incredible way to interact throughout Black Spire Outpost.  The datapad will allow guests to translate languages from around the galaxy, scan objects to find cargo, discover communications sent by residents as well as hack into and interact with devices, control panels and droids throughout the land.  Disney has gone above and beyond with this incredible, interactive experience at Galaxy’s Edge.

6. Evening Views

Most guests might think to rush to Galaxy’s Edge first thing in the morning.  Although this can be a great way to get ahead of the crowds, we also want to recommend visiting in the evening.  Disney Imagineering took Batuu to a whole new amazing place at night.  The lights, sounds and the atmosphere is amazing and truly one of the most incredible parts of Galaxy’s Edge.

7. Photo opportunities

Throughout Galaxy’s Edge guests will find numerous photo opportunities.  From the Millennium Falcon and other ships throughout the land to special 360-degree photo that places guests in the middle of the galaxy, the photo options are endless throughout Black Spire Outpost.  If guests have the Memory Maker they will want to make sure to get these photos taken.  The TIE fighters and super zoomed photos are two additional options available.

8. 100% Immersion

The most incredible part of Galaxy’s Edge is how fully immersive it really is for guests.  It starts with the language itself where guests are told “bright suns” and “rising moons” for good morning and good evening and are told where the “refresher” is for the bathroom.  There are no cell phones on Batuu but instead guests can use their datapads. Each cast member is a resident of the area and either a member of the Resistance or the First Order.  They each have a specific background story on how they arrived on Batuu.  While waiting in line, or checking out the land, take time to chat with these residents to learn about their story. Throughout the outpost, guests need to check out everything from top to bottom.  Details in the buildings expand from the floor to the ceilings and even the walls.  Don’t miss these incredible details that make the experience so much more.

Galaxy’s Edge has been highly anticipated for years now.  There are so many incredible things to see, do and experience while on the planet of Batuu.  We hope this list will help you enjoy your experience in Galaxy’s Edge even more.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
