Disney’s Hollywood Studios is undergoing some major changes and in just a few short years it will look very different. Beloved attractions have closed, and new exciting lands are opening up, but despite all the changes and construction happening at Hollywood Studios, the building blocks and many classic attractions are still there to be enjoyed. Here are 10 essential experiences you must have at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

10. Watch the Citizens

As you enter the park, or stroll along Hollywood Boulevard keep an eye out for the Citizens of Hollywood. They are streetmosphere improv performers who are characters from the golden era of Hollywood. They interact with guests, and are extremely funny and entertaining. Take a few minutes to watch, or become a part of the show!

9. Thrill Rides

Hollywood Studios has two of the best thrill rides on property, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. A visit to Hollywood Studios just wouldn’t be complete without at least one ride on each of these thrill ride attractions. The Tower of Terror continues to have some of the best theming around, and Rock ‘n’ Roller coaster will take you through twists and turns and even upside down, all while listening to the music of Aerosmith.

8. Star Wars

Hollywood Studios is the park for Star Wars fans, and there are multiple attractions and experiences to be had based on Star Wars here. Guest can meet Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, BB-8, go on an adventure on Star Tours, or watch a number of Star Wars themed performances, be it the March of the First Order, or Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. And of course we can’t forget the Jedi Training for kids 4-12. Guests could spent the better part of their day here trying to fit all the Star Wars experiences in.

7. Muppet*Vision 3D

Although it could be argued that this attraction needs some attention and updating, it still makes the list. There aren’t nearly enough Muppets attractions at Disney, and since this is one of the few, it’s essential. It’s very entertaining and full of laughs in the classic and beloved Muppet style. There’s also a wonderfully wacky Muppet themed shop just outside the theater, which is worthy of a picture or two.

6. Toy Story Mania

Toy Story Mania remains one of the most popular attractions at Disney World. The standby wait times can be on the lengthy side at times, but it’s worth the wait. The attraction is interactive, and the carnival-like games tend to bring out the competitive side in everyone. This attraction is a ton of fun, and perfect for all ages.

5. Indiana Jones

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is an essential experience guests should have at least once. This show is one of the more classic attractions at Hollywood Studios, and embodies the themes of the park itself, adventure and movie magic. There’s audience participation, explosions and some amazing stunts, all based on scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

4. 50’s Prime Time Café

50’s Prime Time Café has American cuisine served up in a kitschy 1950’s kitchen, complete with formica tables and TV’s. The servers here will take you back in time to when it was mandatory to finish all your vegetables and make sure to keep your elbows off the table. 50’s Prime Time serves up a good time, and amazing comfort food, like meatloaf and fried chicken. There’s nowhere else quite like it, so make a reservation for your next visit to the Studios.

3. Carrot Cake Cookie

Whether you’re a cookie or a cake lover, the Carrot Cake Cookie is a Disney treat you do not want to miss. It’s two giant, soft carrot cake cookies sandwiched together with cream cheese frosting in the middle. It’s big enough to share, but it’s so good, you probably won’t want to. You can find this snack in Sweet Spells on Sunset Boulevard.

2. Walt Disney Presents (formerly Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream)

This classic attraction has recently undergone some changes! Walt Disney Presents continued to offer guests a chance to view the history of Walt, but now has the addition of a space for guests to preview what’s on the horizon. Models such as the Toy Story Land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and even Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction are available to preview. We’ve always loved this informative collection of memorabilia, designs, and historical models about Walt. Now we get to experience the past, present, and future of Walt Disney! It’s rarely crowded and provides a great way to cool off as it is totally air-conditioned.

1. Fantasmic!

Fantasmic is an absolute essential experience at Hollywood Studios. It is the nighttime spectacular at the park, and at times plays twice a night, but sometimes just once, so make sure you check the times guide. The show features water screens and projections, familiar Disney music, and Mickey Mouse who is battling Disney villains in his dream. Fantasmic is the perfect end to a day spent at Hollywood Studios doing all the exciting essential experiences!
