What To Know About Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs & The Gran Destino Tower

Gran Destino Tower

If you are heading to Coronado Springs and Gran Destino Tower, there is so much new and fun opportunities waiting for you.  Open as of early July 2019, Gran Destino Tower, the new addition to Coronado Springs, opened to guests.  This new area brought many new and exciting dining, recreation as well as a unique mix of Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American Cultures.  Learn what you need to know about Coronado Springs and Gran Destino Tower for your next Walt Disney World vacation.

1. New Arrival Experience

As guests arrive at Coronado Springs, they now come to the Gran Destino Tower.  This two-story lobby will leave guests breathless.  The far, rear wall is complete with full height decorative screens inspired by Spanish tile patterns.  The lights at night make this grand entryway one of the best at Walt Disney World.  All guests no matter if they are staying in the Gran Destino Tower or out in the original Coronado Springs area will check-in at this new lobby.  Outside of the lobby is also the main bus pick-up moving from the previous location.

2. Three New Bridges

One complaint that guests used to have at Coronado Springs is how large it was and that it was difficult to get around.  Disney listened and connected the different locations with bridges through the middle of the lake.  Called Villa del Lago or “Lake Villa” in the center where these bridges meet is an area for recreation and relaxation.  These bridges have made access to the main pool, dining and buses and a lot more convenient for guests.

3. Three Bridges Bar and Grill

You won’t want to miss the new dining experience at Three Bridges Bar and Grill.  Located at the center of the Villa del Lago, this new location is located over the water and is a beautiful lake front dining option.  In this open-aired, Spanish-American themed, lakefront restaurant, guests can enjoy sandwiches, shared plates and beverages.  This is a great location for guests to unwind and relax together after a day at the parks or meetings.

5. Lounges

Along with new restaurants, Gran Destino Tower brought guests two new lounges. Barcelona Lounge is located on the first floor of the tower and offers espresso drinks and pastries in the morning and at night wines and beers. Dahila Lounge is a Spanish themed lounge advertised as a rooftop lounge. Guests can get drinks and small plates here as well as enjoy the view from up high.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
