We reported previously that the lockers at the Magic Kingdom had been updated to a new digital locker system. Â It looks like the lockers at each of the four theme parks have all been updated to now function with a digital locking system instead of the traditional key lock system. Â The digital system allows you to enter a passcode to enter the locker. Â This prevents the guests from needing to keep up with a key. Â Guests will no longer need to wait in line for an attendant in order to rent the locker, pay a deposit for the key or wait in line to return the key. Â It definitely simplifies the entire process, which streamlines the entire guest experience.
When you enter the locker area, you will find a kiosk for the locker rentals.  You just start by touching the main touch screen.  From there you can select the type of locker that you want to rental.  Then you will provide payment, which can be cash or credit card. Guests are able to use a MagicBand or gift card, but they will have to see a Cast Member at one of the nearby merchandise shops. You will receive your locker information to go and start using the locker to store various things that you don’t want to carry around the park with you.
The locker prices, for the entire day, are as follows:
- Standard (12.5″ x 10″ x 17″): $7
- Large (15.5″ x 13″ x 17″): $10
- Jumbo (17″ x 22″ x 26″): $15
There is a sign on the locker that reads:  “Don’t let others see your passcode!  Guests are responsible for remembering and protecting their own digital locker code.”  Be sure to write the information down somewhere or program it in your phone so that you won’t forget.
The lockers are located toward the entrance at each of the theme parks including Epcot’s International Gateway entrance. Who out there has tried out these new lockers? Â What did you think?
