We have heard from various sources that Kali River Rapids, located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World, is officially set to close in 2018 for a refurbishment. The attraction, which resides in the Asia area of Animal Kingdom, is expected to close in early January for a 5 week refurbishment. The official dates for the closure are currently set with a begin date of January 2nd and then running through February 9th. The attraction is currently expected to re-open to guests on February 10th. The scheduled are subject to change or be impacted by weather or other unexpected delays associated with the refurbishment. We don’t know what all Disney has planned for this particular refurbishment or whether we can expect to see any noticeable changes after the attraction finally re-opens.
Kali River Rapids is a popular water attraction at the theme park. The attraction often carries very long wait times in the summer when guests need to cool off. Guests typically get completely soaked on the attraction, so it definitely makes sense that Disney would choose to close in the winter months for the refurbishment to take place. Disney often tries to complete these types of refurbishments in non-peak months so fewer guests are impacted by an attraction being out of commission.
Who else out there has been totally soaked on Kali River Rapids before? My kiddos can’t get enough of it!
