There have been rumors circulating that Walt Disney World is testing something new related to the “Mousekeeping” services offered for resort guests. Â “Mousekeeping” is the term given to the housekeeping staff at each of the resorts on property. Â These are the services that also replenish the Disney shampoos, towels, clean up and even occasionally leave towel animals and other fun “magic” in the rooms. Â The rumor on the street is that Disney is offering guests an option to receive a Disney gift card if they opt out of the “Mousekeeping” service during their stay.
The amount of the gift card is currently rumored to be $40. Â We aren’t sure if this amount is variable based on the number of the nights for the stay. Â The current rumored locations where this is being offered are at the value resorts: Â Pop Century, All Star Resorts and Art of Animation. Â We don’t know yet if this will be extended to other resorts or if the value resorts will be the only place that this is available. Â It could be that Disney is piloting the program and then plan a larger rollout depending on the take rate and if it meets their goal for offering the service. Â This appears to be a cost savings move for Disney to save on the cost of paying Mousekeeping staff.
What do you all think of this rumor? Â Would you give up your Mousekeeping services in return for a gift card?
