Walt Disney World Resort Showcase

Disney's Riviera Resort

The next few days are going to be pretty exciting. My daughter and I are going to be part of a hosted media group that has been invited to take part in a resort showcase. We are going to be spending three nights at Disney’s Riviera Resort, which is of course brand new. If that were not thrilling enough, we will be learning about several of the other Walt Disney World properties. I am grateful that my daughter will be with me because we will be covering a lot of ground! She is also a much better photographer than I am, and we work very well together as a team.

Since I am local, I don’t normally experience the Disney Resorts the way that most people do. I have visited them, I have eaten at the restaurants, I have even spent an occasional night, but I have never visited like a tourist. I am looking forward to seeing Walt Disney World from a different angle.

There is a lot planned for our three night adventure. We will also be touring several of the other resorts, including Art of Animation, Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. We will also have a chance to dine in some of the restaurants. I am sure that there will be plenty of surprises, and that the three days will be filled with information.

Gran Destino Tower

I have been inside Disney’s Riviera Resort and toured much of it, so I already know that it is gorgeous. I learned quite a bit about the newest Disney Vacation Club property when Disney held the media event last month. This should be much different than that was. I want to look at this through your eyes. Since we will be staying for three nights, I’ll also try to share with you things that might make your stay at this Deluxe Resort more convenient.

Our welcome dinner will be at Topolino’s Terrace. For those who don’t know, this is the brand new signature restaurant at Disney’s Riviera Resort. I saw the restaurant during the Riviera media event, but this will be my first time dining there. I am looking forward to seeing that view once again. It’s rooftop dining at Topolino’s Terrace, and when I visited it I truly felt like I was on top of the world. We will be ending our adventure at Topolino’s Terrace as well. Breakfast is a character meal that features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy. They are showing off their artistic side. I have heard only good things about this new option, and I look forward to sharing our experience with you.

We have been told that part of our adventure could include Minnie Vans. Since I local I have only ridden in one once. While I know that many of you are Minnie Van pros, others don’t know much about the service. I am eager to share our experiences with the ride service with you. My first ride in a Minnie Van was a positive one, and I expected nothing less from Disney.

Our journey will begin when we check in at Disney’s Riviera Resort on Tuesday, January 21, and it will end on Friday, January 24. We will be adding as much information as we can along the way. Make sure that you follow along on both Facebook and Instagram, as well as on the Disney Dining website. My daughter and I will work hard to get as much information as we can to you. We want to make you feel as if you are part of our journey as well.

I would like to to take a moment and thank Disney for inviting us to take part in this special event. It is going to be wonderful to be able to experience some of the best that Walt Disney World has to offer. I am sure that these days will be jam packed, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
