If you like to have groceries and other items sent to your resort from places like Amazon, Garden Grocer, etc., you will definitely want to know about the flat fee that Disney will be charging when these deliveries arrive. If a cast member has to accept your package for you, then there will be a flat fee of $5 charged to your account, which will charge to the card that is on file. It looks like the only way that you can avoid this fee is if you are able to intercept the delivery and accept it for yourself instead of it changing hands with a cast member.
It is typically much cheaper to have water, fruit and other grocery items delivered from one of these services than to shop at the stores at the Disney resorts. This is also typically a wider variety of foods and items available from the third party sources since Disney only carries a limited supply of items. The ease of all of these services has likely cut into Disney’s sales. There is also time and coordination required by cast members in order to hold the packages until they are picked up.
