Walt Disney World Monorail Routes Changing for May

Disney has announced that the monorail routes will be adjusted on May 16th, 17th and 24th from 11:30AM to 6PM on those days.  These monorail routes will included different drop offs and pick ups for each monorail route.  The Express Monorail which usually travels directly between Magic Kingdom and the Ticket and Transportation Center will also make a stop at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on these dates and times.  The Resort Monorail will not stop at Disney’s Contemporary Resort or the Ticket and Transportation Center at all.  It will only stop at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

The monorail is an extremely popular mode of travel at Walt Disney World.  For many guests, the monorail is the equivalent to a ride at the parks.  It is a staple and definitely a huge benefit to staying at one of the monorail resorts to begin with.  For guest that want to resort hop, the change to the Resort Monorail will be a little bit of an inconvenience, but overall this impact shouldn’t be too terrible. This temporary change is likely due to updates and maintenance that is being performed on the track.  Disney regularly completes maintenance to ensure the monorails are safe.

We are sure there will be additional signage to help guests with this change, but if you will be in the area on around these dates be sure to make a mental note of these dates.

Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips… More »
