We have heard reports that Disney is currently completing negotiations with companies to incorporate driver-less shuttles at Walt Disney World and other Disney theme park locations. Â Florida has fewer restrictions for driver-less vehicles than California, so it is expected that the vehicles would first make their appearance in Florida. Â The companies in the negotiations include, but aren’t limited to, Local Motors and Nvya. Â Local Motors is based out of Phoenix, Arizona while Nvya is located in Paris. Â This addition to the parks would be a massive undertaking and would be one of the largest scale implementation of driver-less vehicles done thus far.
According to the rumors, Walt Disney World could begin a test pilot with the new vehicles later this year. Â It is unclear at this time how these shuttles will fit in with existing Disney transportation and if any of the existing transportation will be limited or decreased with the addition of the new vehicles. Â These vehicles are expected to be extremely expensive, so we are also unsure if traveling via the shuttles will be free or will be for a charge. Â It is expected that the shuttles will be used as more of a taxi type of service that would be in addition to the other transportation options, but we won’t know for sure until Disney releases additional information.
How many of you would try out the driver-less vehicles if they are added to Walt Disney World?
