Walt Disney World Extends Digital Key Feature to Additional Disney Resorts

We previously announced that Disney had launched the Digital Key Feature within My Disney Experience.  It wasn’t released to all resorts initially, but we are excited to learn that the functionality will be expanding.  This new functionality adds a greater level of convenience and flexibility to a guest’s resort stay.  Guests will be able to access their resort room with their mobile phone via Bluetooth technology.  If guests have their phone with them, they never have to worry about being locked out of their room!  The online check-in feature also always guests to skip the front desk and go right to their room, too. The roll out for the functionality started with Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and is now being rolled to the rest of the resorts at Walt Disney World, including the Disney Vacation Club properties.

Guests should also be sure to listen closely as they unlock their room and they will here the sound of the pixie dust filling the air, too!  This same functionality will also be used to unlock the hotel entrance gate and other common areas around the resort, making it very convenient for resort guests.

Take a look at this video about this feature:

Each of the guests staying in the resort room that have a My Disney Experience account will be able to opt in and activate the feature on check-in day.  To enter their room, guests tap the “Unlock Door” button and then simply hold their phone against the door lock.

Who has tested out this feature already while visiting Walt Disney World?

Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips… More »
