Walt Disney Travel Company Specialist Working on Legal Career with Disney Aspire

Disney Aspire is an amazing program offered by Disney to help their Cast Members reach their dreams and educational goals to set them up for their desired career. This program launched over a year ago and helps to provide Cast Members with different degree and certificate programs and Disney covers 100% of the cost of their education. We love hearing about these inspirational stories and thanks to Disney Parks Blog, we have a look at another one. Miranda Tong is a Guest Communications Specialist for the Walt Disney Travel Company and has been with the company for almost 10 years. Through the aspire program, she is working toward her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and wants to pursue a legal or security role within Disney.

“I’ve always been drawn to criminal justice so when I saw that it was available through Disney Aspire, I was so excited. This is my passion,” said Miranda.

Per Disney Parks Blog, “Miranda has always had a passion for research and wanted to go to college to learn and grow in the field of criminal justice, but shortly after she began taking classes, she pivoted to start her family. Her first priority shifted from her educational dreams to raising her children, but now that her kids are grown, she says it’s time to put her career goals back in view.”

“As I got older and my kids started to go to college, I thought ‘it’s my turn,’ and with Disney Aspire, I decided to put myself first,” shared Miranda.

“This program has changed my life, as it’s given me the opportunity to follow my dreams of pursuing a career in criminal justice. I would’ve had to go out of my way to do this, but Disney put this program in front of me and they’re handing me my dreams,” said Miranda. “Disney has given me a great opportunity to continue working at a job I love, with people I love – all while pursuing my passions.”

Miranda has made great progress to achieve her dreams, including earning two Dean’s List certificates from Bellevue University.

“It was such a great feeling to receive my Dean’s List certificates,” she recalls. “It was hard for me to find my groove at first, and I didn’t even know if I could earn it. It was great to know that I still have the knack to learn.”

We love hearing these inspiring stories and how people’s lives are changing thanks to Disney Aspire! We wish Miranda luck along her journey!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
