Updates on Tron Attraction Coming to Walt Disney World

Credit: Disney

We are so excited about the Tron attraction that is slated to come to Walt Disney World.  The attraction will be coaster-style and will debut within Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park.  Disney Parks Blog announced today that there is a Tron-themed billboard that you can see from Storybook Circus.  You can check it out in the heading of the article, too.  This new Tron attraction will be located in the area that is next to Space Mountain.  As with any of the Disney’s construction and additions, guests can expect some changes to other attractions and experiences.

The Walt Disney World Railroad will reside in the Main Street Station starting in December 2018.  During this time it won’t be able to complete the full circle around Magic Kingdom Park.  The train will remain parked at the Main Street Station and guests will be able to enjoy amazing photo opportunities.  Tomorrowland Speedway will also close for some of 2019.  The track for the attraction will have to be adjusted, but it will re-open as the same attraction sometime in the summer of 2019.

TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland

The Tron attraction is set to open sometime in 2021, just in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.  It is based on the TRON Lightcycle Power Run that is located in Shanghai Disneyland (pictured above).  The attraction has riders board two-wheeled Lightcycles that race through the track.  We will definitely keep you posted as we learn more about this amazing attraction!

Who else can’t wait for Tron to open at Walt Disney World?

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
