A few years ago, Walt Disney World Resort updated its list of banned items, prohibiting guests from bringing ice into Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Still, not many Disney Park guests know about this change.
TikTok user @mimimouseears recently posted a video reminding guests that they can no longer bring loose ice into the parks, but it surprised many Disney Parks fans.
“Yep, you can’t bring loose ice into Disney World. Not a joke,” the TikTok user said. “It slows down security. It melts and creates slippery puddles. It can hide banned stuff (like alcohol).”

The TikTok user also suggests that guests who need ice bring sealed or reusable ice packs instead. “But your Yeti [cooler] full of cubes? That’s a no,” they added. This rule applies to all of Disney’s major Central Florida theme parks: Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
While the updated policy has shocked many fans, the TikTok user is correct in their summary. Disney’s official rules state: “Loose and dry ice is not permitted in our parks. Reusable ice packs are recommended.” The resort has explained that this rule change was made “in order to improve guest flow, ease congestion and streamline the bag-check and entry processes.”
Walt Disney World Resort does, however, allow guests to bring reusable ice packs and even offers free cups of ice at Quick Service dining locations for those who need it for baby food, medication, or other essential uses. While this rule limits loose ice, it’s important to note that guests can still bring coolers that meet size requirements, and these can contain reusable ice packs for keeping beverages cold. It’s usually fine for guests to bring a small amount of ice in a reusable water bottle, too.
In addition to this restriction, Disney has also made it clear that guests can bring food and non-alcoholic beverages into the parks, as long as they follow the specified guidelines for cooler size and item types. Coolers must be smaller than 24” long x 15” wide x 18” high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm), and guests are advised to use reusable ice packs rather than loose ice.
