Universal’s giving one of its rides a proper funeral today. Fast & Furious Supercharged is taking its very last spin at Universal Studios Florida, and they’re not letting it go quietly. Brian’s actual 1994 Toyota Supra is parked out front, there’s a DJ setting up, and fans are showing up for one final ride before it’s gone for good. Here’s everything happening today, plus what’s coming to fill the void.
Today’s the Actual Last Day, No Extensions
Fast & Furious Supercharged is done after today at Universal Studios Florida. According to Universal Orlando’s own account, you need a wristband to snag one of the final rides, and there’s a second wristband distribution happening specifically for Passholder Nights, giving annual passholders their own shot at saying goodbye.
And Universal’s clearly treating this like the milestone it is. Brian’s 1994 Toyota Supra, one of the most recognizable cars in the entire franchise, is parked right out front, and there’s a DJ setting up to make sure the final hours feel like an event instead of just a regular Tuesday at the park. If you’re there today, this is it. No coming back tomorrow for one more lap.
A Look Back at What This Ride Actually Was
Fast & Furious Supercharged opened back in 2018 at Universal Studios Florida, bringing the whole blockbuster franchise to life right there in the park. The queue was built to look exactly like the family’s warehouse headquarters and garage, stuffed with real cars and props straight out of the movies, before dropping guests into an indoor, 3D, screen based ride racing through the streets of LA.
The whole thing leaned hard on the franchise’s biggest stars, with recorded appearances from Vin Diesel as Dom, Ludacris as Tej, and Jordana Brewster as Mia, plus live actors performing right there in person. Riders got pulled into a chase involving the FBI and franchise villain Owen Shaw, played by Luke Evans, cranking up the intensity right to the end.
Vin Diesel himself talked about the ride back when it opened in 2018, and honestly his words still hold up. “You’re going to have memories of scenes that you’ve seen in this franchise that are going to take you back to those moments you love that made this saga what it is,” he said. “You’re going to feel what it’s like to be part of the family.”
A January 2026 press release originally said this closure wasn’t happening until 2027, but that timeline clearly got moved up, landing us here today instead. The Hollywood version, which opened back in 2015, already shut down in 2025, so today’s the real end for Supercharged everywhere.
Universal’s Not Actually Walking Away From Fast & Furious
Here’s the good news if you’re a fan. Universal’s not done with this franchise, not even close. They’re bringing in Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a brand new outdoor coaster launching in California this summer, with Orlando getting its version in 2027. Important detail though, this isn’t replacing Supercharged’s actual building. Hollywood Drift is taking over the spot where Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit used to be, so Universal’s basically handing the franchise off to a totally different location instead of rebuilding right where Supercharged currently sits.
Hollywood Drift puts you in the driver’s seat of some seriously iconic cars from the franchise, launching riders almost 17 stories into the air during a wild 170 foot vertical spike. Universal says the ride delivers “the exhilarating sensation of 360-degree drifting” as you speed through intense maneuvers over the edge of Universal CityWalk. The Los Angeles Times reported back in July that the Hollywood version is already deep into technical rehearsals, meaning it’s genuinely close to opening.
Universal’s calling Hollywood Drift part of an already stacked coaster lineup across its parks, framing it as proof of how much growth and innovation is happening across the whole Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio.
The Movies Aren’t Slowing Down Either
The timing here actually lines up with big moves happening for the franchise on screen too. The eleventh and supposedly final movie, Fast Forever, is dropping in 2028. Vin Diesel also dropped news at NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation in May that a Fast & Furious TV series is heading to Peacock before that last film hits theaters. Between the new coaster and everything happening on streaming, this franchise clearly isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, just shifting formats.
What This Actually Means for Your Next Trip
If you’re at Universal Studios Florida today, this is your literal last shot at riding Fast & Furious Supercharged, so make it happen, wristband and all. If you’re planning a trip further out, adjust your expectations now. Supercharged is gone from the lineup after today, and its replacement won’t hit Orlando until 2027, meaning there’s going to be a real gap where this franchise doesn’t have a dedicated ride at Universal Orlando at all.
