Universal Theme Park Closing for 6 Months — But Not Before Hosting This Huge Event

Will the Event Take Away From Halloween Horror Nights?

Universal Orlando Resort seems to be shutting down one of its theme parks soon for at least six months.

But before that takes place, it appears that a significant special event is set to take place next month, which will eventually diminish Halloween Horror Nights.

Volcano Bay Will Soon Close for a Lengthy Refurbishment

Imagine floating in a lazy river under the stars, neon lights reflecting off the water as a DJ’s beat ripples through the air. Around you, guests laugh, dance, and dash toward glowing slides, their silhouettes framed by the iconic Krakatau volcano lit in dazzling colors.

Universal Orlando Resort has never been shy about reimagining its guest experience, but sometimes, it pulls off something so unexpected that even longtime fans are caught off guard. That’s exactly what’s happening this fall—just as anticipation builds for a lengthy closure, the resort is making sure Volcano Bay goes out with a splash.

Before the tropical-themed waterpark shuts down for major refurbishments from October 2026 through March 2027, Universal is giving fans a send-off worth clearing their calendars for.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
