Universal fans had high hopes for a major announcement heading into 2026. Instead, what they got was a gut punch for anyone holding an Annual Pass. Universal Epic Universe, the resort’s newest and most talked-about park, still won’t be included in passholder access next year.

No Annual Pass Option for Epic Universe
Universal recently opened ticket sales for 2026 visits to Epic Universe, which launched in 2025 to enormous crowds and record-breaking demand. But while guests can now buy single-day and multi-day tickets, there’s still no Annual Pass tier that includes this park.
Instead, passholders will only have access to specially priced single-day tickets. That means they’ll have to pay every time they want to step into Universal’s crown jewel. For many fans who’ve stayed loyal to Universal for years, this news is anything but magical.
Managing Overwhelming Demand
Crowds have been intense since Epic Universe opened, with some of its biggest rides experiencing soaring wait times from the moment the gates opened. With demand showing no signs of slowing down, it seems Universal is holding off on passholder access to better manage capacity.
The park hasn’t even hit its rumored maximum daily attendance yet. If thousands of Annual Passholders suddenly had open access, it could quickly push the park beyond its operational limits.

Growing Pains at the New Park
Epic Universe has delivered a lot to be excited about — from Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment to Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. The immersive theming, cutting-edge rides, and massive fan interest have made it the biggest Universal project in decades. But those massive crowds are exactly why Universal is moving slowly on adding passholder perks.
What’s Next for Passholders
Universal has made no official announcements about when (or if) Epic Universe will be folded into Annual Pass options. Some fans are already speculating it won’t happen until at least 2027. For now, passholders will have to settle for discounted day tickets — a far cry from the unlimited access many had hoped for.
This cautious approach might make operational sense for Universal, but for the resort’s most loyal guests, it feels like a major setback. 2026 was supposed to be their year to enjoy Epic Universe without restrictions. Instead, it looks like another year of paying extra for the park that’s stealing the spotlight.
