Universal Orlando Resort has officially reopened one of its most underrated family-friendly attractions inside Islands of Adventure, and longtime guests are already noticing the difference.
After weeks of limited access and blocked-off areas, Camp Jurassic has now returned to full operation, restoring a major part of Jurassic Park that many visitors consider essential—especially families traveling with kids.

Camp Jurassic isn’t a traditional ride, but it has always been one of the most immersive interactive experiences in Islands of Adventure. The attraction is essentially a massive themed exploration zone, designed to feel like guests have stepped into a prehistoric research camp. It features rope bridges, caves, climbing nets, and water play areas that give younger visitors something exciting to do beyond standing in line.
Recently, however, guests noticed something was missing.
While certain areas of Camp Jurassic remained open, large sections were blocked off behind barriers, leaving only limited access to the space. During that time, guests could still access the caves and the nearby Pteranodon Flyers attraction, but the most popular parts of Camp Jurassic—particularly the nets and water play features—were unavailable.
That left many visitors disappointed, especially those who consider Camp Jurassic a key part of the land’s identity.
Now, Universal has reopened the area fully, meaning guests can once again explore the entire attraction as it was originally designed. The reopening restores not only the physical space, but also the overall atmosphere of Jurassic Park inside Islands of Adventure, which has felt slightly quieter while major areas were restricted.

The timing of this update is also notable, as Jurassic Park is currently going through a significant year of changes.
Universal’s Jurassic Park River Adventure closed earlier this year on January 5 for an extended refurbishment. The ride is not scheduled to reopen until November 20, meaning the attraction will be down for nearly 10 months. That is a major closure by theme park standards and has naturally sparked speculation about what Universal may be planning.
Some rumors have suggested the ride could be transitioning into a Jurassic World-themed attraction similar to the version found at Universal Studios Hollywood. But sources indicate that this is not expected. Instead, Jurassic Park River Adventure is believed to be returning with the same storyline and branding, simply updated and improved after its long refurbishment.
In the meantime, Camp Jurassic reopening fully is a welcome development for guests who want Jurassic Park to feel complete again.
With the nets and water features restored, the area once again provides a fun break from the more intense thrill rides across the park. It also gives families a much-needed option to slow down and enjoy an attraction that doesn’t revolve around wait times.
For many visitors, Camp Jurassic is more than just a playground. It’s part of what makes Jurassic Park feel alive—and Universal bringing it back fully is a major win.
