Universal Kids Resort Unveils Exciting Rides, Dining, and Attractions Ahead of 2026 Opening
FRISCO, Texas — Picture the wide-eyed wonder of a child discovering something entirely new—the thrill of a first splash, the laughter of a whimsical character encounter, the smell of freshly baked treats drifting through a themed land. That’s exactly the feeling Universal is aiming to capture with its newest project. But what exactly will this ambitious regional park offer, and why could it become a must-visit destination for families across the country?
Universal Kids Resort, set to open in 2026, is designed as a haven for children and their families, promising an experience tailored specifically to young adventurers. From immersive rides to character-filled lands, the park aims to spark curiosity and invite play in ways few parks have attempted before.

Seven Unique Lands, Endless Adventure
The park will feature seven distinct lands, each themed around beloved Universal and DreamWorks characters, with every detail crafted from a child’s perspective. Molly Murphy, president of Universal Creative, emphasized that the park was designed to nurture a childlike sense of wonder: “Every detail was designed through a child’s eyes. We leaned into that childlike curiosity and invited play to be our guide.”

Shrek Swamp
Visitors will journey through Shrek and Fiona’s Happily Ogre After, following the story of how the iconic couple met and built a family. Guests can enjoy unique treats like the “Shrekzel” at Swamp Snacks, pick up themed apparel and plush toys at Triplets Treasures, and splash through interactive play areas while meeting Shrek and Fiona in person.
Puss in Boots Del Mar
Thrill-seekers can soar high on Swings over Del Mar or enjoy a playful puppet show featuring Puss in Boots. Meet-and-greets with Puss, Mama Luna, and Perrito add a personal touch, while Comidas y Leche and Tienda de Dulces satisfy hunger with savory and sweet offerings. Sensory gardens scattered throughout provide quiet spaces for children to rest and recharge.
Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
Guests are invited to join a “spirited water battle” in Bello Bay Club, aligning with either team yellow or purple. The area features Bello Bay Cruise and Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby, along with minion-themed food at Bello Bay Bites and merchandise at Bello Bay Boutique. Photo opportunities with the Minions add extra fun for fans of the mischievous characters.

Jurassic World Adventure Camp
Families can hunt for a missing Ankylosaurus on Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster, spin through Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin, or soar above the park on Pterandodrop. Dining is available at Jurassic World Canteen, gear and souvenirs at Jurassic World Outfitters, and young explorers can meet a baby dinosaur or play at Paddock Play and Look Out Towers.
TrollsFest
Dance and music fill the air at TrollsFest, with attractions like Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express and Hair in the Clouds providing exciting ways to experience the land. Visitors can enjoy snacks at Troll Eatz, ice cream at BroZone Cones, and troll-inspired makeovers at Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow. Merchandise and interactive play areas complete the vibrant experience.

SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom
Fans of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob will find Jellyfish Fields Jamboree, Barnacle Bus, Bobbing Barrels, and Mrs. Puff’s Boating School, offering playful and interactive experiences for all ages. Goofy Goober’s provides themed dining, while Barg-N-Mart offers unique merchandise. Meet-and-greets with SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy add extra excitement.
Isle of Curiosity
The park’s entrance, Isle of Curiosity, features Gabby’s Cat-Tastic Dance Party, cupcakes at Cakey’s Cupcakes, meals at Universal Kids Resort Cafe, and shopping at the Universal Kids Resort Store, ensuring a welcoming and fun introduction for every visitor.

Universal Kids Resort Hotel
The on-site hotel accommodates five to six guests per room and features Curiosity Cafe for meals, a full-service bar, an outdoor pool, a fitness room, and a game room. The family-focused design keeps the magic going beyond the park gates, offering convenience and comfort for multi-day stays.
Universal Kids Resort aims to redefine family entertainment by creating a park where every attraction, restaurant, and play area is intentionally child-centered. With immersive storytelling, hands-on adventures, and dining tailored for young tastes, the park could set a new benchmark for regional family destinations.
