Universal Dismantles Guest Walkway at Orlando Park

While Universal Destinations & Experiences takes bold steps forward around the globe, Florida’s original Universal Orlando Resort continues to evolve in its own dynamic way.

On May 22, Universal officially opened the gates to its newest park in Central Florida — Universal Epic Universe. This exciting third gate joins Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and features multiple new immersive lands. Among them are SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, Celestial Park, and How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, all packed with innovative attractions and immersive storytelling.

Even with Epic Universe capturing headlines as Central Florida’s largest theme park addition in years, guests still find plenty to explore at Universal Orlando’s original parks. From the high-octane thrills of Jurassic World VelociCoaster to the enchanting ride through Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, there’s no shortage of blockbuster experiences. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and The Simpsons continue to anchor fan-favorite sections that keep guests returning year after year.

But with progress comes change. Much like Walt Disney World Resort’s ongoing updates, Universal Orlando is no stranger to refurbishments that occasionally impact guest routes. One current development affects the bridge that links Diagon Alley in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to the Springfield area, inspired by The Simpsons. This shortcut walkway has been temporarily closed and stripped down to its skeletal framework as it undergoes refurbishment. In the meantime, guests looking to make their way from Diagon Alley to Springfield will be redirected past the Men in Black: Alien Attack attraction.

Beyond Florida, Universal’s momentum continues across the map. In Texas, families are looking forward to the new Universal Kids Resort in Frisco. Meanwhile, horror fans are anticipating Universal Horror Unleashed, with projects now in development in both Las Vegas, Nevada, and Chicago, Illinois.

And across the pond, Universal is setting its sights on the U.K. Plans are in the works for its first British theme park, tentatively titled Universal Great Britain. Set to rise in Bedfordshire, this international park could bring beloved franchises like Back to the Future, The Lord of the Rings, James Bond, and Paddington to life.

With so many exciting additions and changes underway, Universal’s story continues to grow both globally and at home in Orlando.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
