Universal CityWalk’s Newest Addition is Under Construction – And It Smells Delicious

Universal CityWalk Orlando is welcoming back a fan-favorite treat, as a brand-new Cinnabon kiosk is under construction. Located near Bigfire and Margaritaville, this new spot will allow guests to grab their beloved cinnamon rolls and other Cinnabon delights once again. The previous Cinnabon location, which had been a staple at CityWalk, permanently shut its doors in April 2024, along with Quiet Flight Surf Shop. Initially, a new kiosk was expected to open within a few months, but guests have had to settle for temporary Cinnabon stands around CityWalk for nearly a year. Now, construction walls surround the new site, and Cinnabon signage has already appeared, signaling that its long-awaited return is coming soon.

A sign posted on the construction walls reassures guests that Cinnabon is officially “Returning Soon” in 2025. The former location was removed as part of an expansion to the Universal Studios Store, which has been undergoing significant renovations. While no specific opening date has been announced yet, the presence of branding on the roof suggests that construction is moving forward, and fans of the warm, gooey cinnamon rolls won’t have to wait much longer.

Ongoing Construction at Universal Orlando in 2025

Universal Orlando is in the middle of a massive transformation, with several new attractions and projects taking shape across the resort. Here’s a look at some of the major developments coming in 2025.

Epic Universe: Universal’s Most Ambitious Expansion Yet

The biggest project currently in development is Epic Universe, a brand-new theme park set to debut in 2025. This massive expansion will introduce entirely new themed lands, including Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk.

The park is being built on a separate property a few miles south of the main Universal Orlando Resort area and will feature groundbreaking attractions, new dining experiences, and a unique central hub that ties the different lands together. Ride testing has already begun for some of the park’s signature attractions, including Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and Donkey Kong’s Mine Cart Madness, both of which will be major draws for guests.

Universal Studios Store Expansion at CityWalk

CityWalk itself is undergoing some changes beyond the new Cinnabon location. The previous Cinnabon storefront was absorbed into the ongoing expansion of the Universal Studios Store, which aims to provide a larger retail space filled with exclusive merchandise. The updated store is expected to introduce a more modern layout, featuring immersive displays and interactive elements that highlight Universal’s biggest franchises.

Refurbishments Inside Universal Studios Florida

Several areas inside Universal Studios Florida are also receiving updates. The On Location shop recently had its signage removed, and its interior has been gutted, suggesting a major overhaul. Meanwhile, the Studio Sweets candy shop has officially closed, adding to speculation that Universal is making changes to some of its retail spaces. Additionally, construction crews have stripped the exterior siding from the Jaws-themed bathrooms, sparking rumors about further enhancements in the area. While Universal has not provided specifics, these changes indicate that significant updates are coming to the park.

New Dining Options at CityWalk

In addition to the return of Cinnabon, Universal CityWalk continues to evolve its dining lineup. Over the past year, several locations have seen updates, with rumors circulating that a new quick-service restaurant could be on the way. While Universal has yet to confirm any specific details, guests can expect fresh additions to CityWalk’s already diverse food scene.

Looking Ahead to Universal’s Future

With all of these projects in development, 2025 is shaping up to be one of Universal Orlando’s most transformative years yet. Between the opening of Epic Universe, the expansion of CityWalk, and ongoing improvements inside Universal Studios Florida and Volcano Bay, guests will have plenty to look forward to.

For Cinnabon fans, the return of a permanent location at CityWalk is just one of many exciting changes. Soon, the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls will once again fill the air, giving guests the perfect sweet treat to enjoy during their visit. Stay tuned for more updates as Universal Orlando continues to roll out new experiences in the year ahead.
