“I Thought I Was Going to Die”: Disney World Ride Raises Safety Concerns After Reported Injury

A recent report suggests that the most dangerous Walt Disney World Resort ride isn’t at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Instead, it reportedly resides at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park are the lesser-known Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. With an affordable single-day ticket or a Park Hopper with a water park add-on, visiting a Disney water park is a no-brainer. Who doesn’t want to spend a day cooling off from the Central Florida heat?

The second Walt Disney World Resort water park to open, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park has faced numerous lawsuits over the years, particularly regarding its Humunga Kowabunga water slide. Last fall, a woman sued The Walt Disney Company after she suffered violent internal injuries from a “wedgie” suffered on the ride. Months later, another guest filed a lawsuit alleging the water slide caused a brain injury.

Despite these reported injuries, TikTok user @disneyworldtoday recently suggested that Humunga Kowabunga isn’t the most dangerous Walt Disney World Resort ride. Instead, he gave Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon’s Crush ‘n’ Gusher water coaster the title.

“Now, maybe you’ve been on this, and you had a nice little time and had some fun, but I’ve been on this multiple times where it’s felt like I’ve been through a car crash,” the Disney Parks fan said. “I used to ride this with my dad, and, I will say, we’re bigger guys. There probably should be a weight limit.”

The TikToker added that he suffered a concussion after his family flipped over on the slide: “I swear to god, I thought I was going to die right there…I ripped my dad’s swimsuit off.”

“I’m actually surprised that we don’t hear more about this,” he concluded.

Commenters overwhelmingly agreed.

“I love this ride, but you’re probably right that it’s the most dangerous,” @daniel_peoples wrote.
