Two Deaths and Theft Spark Calls for Disney Guests To Postpone or Cancel Trips

Some Disney guests are facing major delays and cancellations after two deaths and a theft caused travel disruption.

Disney resorts attract fans from around the world, which also makes them vulnerable to travel disruptions – from flight cancellations and pandemics to natural disasters and extreme weather.

Last October, for example, Hurricane Milton led to mass flight cancellations in Florida, heavily impacting those hoping to visit Walt Disney World Resort or Universal Orlando Resort over the spooky season.

Earlier this year, some flights were also cancelled in Southern California – impacting guests en route to Disneyland Resort – as record-breaking wildfires spread through the region.

Travel Chaos Hits Disneyland Paris

This week, a series of unfortunate events has also disrupted travel for guests heading to Disneyland Paris.

On Tuesday, the Eurostar—the high-speed train linking London’s St. Pancras to mainland Europe—was forced to cancel multiple routes after two separate incidents involving individuals on the tracks near Lille and Arras in northern France.

The disruptions continued today, with further delays and last-minute cancellations caused by a cable theft near a northern France station earlier that morning.

As a result, passengers have been advised to either cancel or postpone their trips. That includes Disneyland Paris guests – many of whom travel between the U.K. and either Lille or Paris Gare du Nord on the Eurostar, before changing to a TGV to Marne-la-Vallée – Chessy.

While the Eurostar previously travelled directly from London to Disneyland Paris, this service was terminated in June 2023 due to complications after Brexit and COVID-19’s impact on financial recovery.

France’s rail network has become a growing target for theft and sabotage. Last July, arsonists damaged high-speed rail cables ahead of the Paris Olympics, hitting key signal stations in three regions. This week, nearly 600 meters of copper wiring were stolen from Eurostar lines—a type of crime on the rise as copper prices surge amid growing demand from electric vehicles and tech industries.

Earlier this year, travel plans for Disneyland Paris guests were also interrupted when an unexploded bomb from World War II was discovered on the tracks in a Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis.

Disneyland Paris has experienced heavy crowds this week, with Disneyland Park reaching full capacity on Monday. Walt Disney Studios Park – the smaller of the two and currently undergoing heavy renovations that will see it welcome World of Frozen and, eventually, a land inspired by The Lion King – is typically less busy, even during peak periods, with Disney itself recommending that guests visit the park after 3 p.m.

The resort is currently in the midst of the Disney Music Festival – a celebration that has welcomed live concerts, dance shows and street gigs to Disneyland Paris, including Minnie’s Marching Band, Moana and her musicians, the Disney Music Hits Concert, Miguel’s Fiesta Latina, Timon’s Matadance, and Musical Meet-up with Rapunzel and Flynn .

Disney Music Festival wraps up on September 7, 2025.

Have you been impacted by today’s Eurostar delays?
