Shanghai Disneyland Resort was actually the first Disney Park to receive the roller coaster in 2016.
Plans for a Walt Disney World version of the attraction were first announced during 2017’s D23 Expo, and construction would begin the following year. The construction led to the closure of a beloved Magic Kingdom ride: the Walt Disney World Railroad.
Not long after Walt Disney Imagineering began construction on this roller coaster, the COVID-19 pandemic occurred. The pandemic forced all four Walt Disney World theme parks and each Resort hotel to cease operations for a few months.

Although Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT reopened only a handful of months after shutting down entirely, it set construction back for a long time. TRON Lightcycle Run was meant to open in 2021, but Disney later announced a new opening date: Spring 2023.
Now, we know that the ride will open to the general public on April 4. However, certain Cast Members and Annual Passholders will get the privilege of testing the attraction out, experiencing this brand-new roller coaster before anyone else.
One Cast Member recently shared a point-of-view video of the attraction on social media, and the comments are overwhelmingly disappointed.

Many fans were commenting on how short the ride time is, and many more feel that it would be a better attraction with a longer ride time alone.
For these Disney fans, it seems that the ride was not worth the wait. However, there’s only one way to tell for sure: to experience it in person during your next Disney vacation!
