Tower of Terror Structure Surrounded by Construction Walls, Guest Access Blocked
Overnight, Disneyland Resort installed construction walls around a former Tower of Terror structure at Disney California Adventure Park. The Southern California vacation destination hasn’t shared any information about this mystery project in the theme park area now known as Avengers Campus.
Disney Says Goodbye to the Tower of Terror

In 2016, Walt Disney Imagineering made an announcement that shook the Disney Parks fan community: the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror would close to make way for Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, a Marvel Cinematic Universe reimagining of the iconic drop ride. The attraction welcomed its final guests in early 2017.
Disneyland Resort fans were initially skeptical, concerned about how incorporating a Marvel Studios property into a fan-favorite ride would alter the experience. However, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! quickly became one of the most popular attractions at Disney California Adventure Park, a testament to the innovative creativity of Walt Disney Imagineers. Over eight years later, the drop ride still draws some of the highest standby wait times at the Southern California Disney parks.
Mystery Project in Avengers Campus

As crews build two new rides and an additional set of bathrooms in other parts of Avengers Campus, they appear to be working on a mystery project near Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!. Construction walls now surround the former FastPass distribution kiosk for the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
When Disneyland Resort reimagined the Tower of Terror and phased out FastPass kiosks for the paid Lightning Lane, they removed all traces of the free line-skipping system, but left the Art Deco theming and main structure mostly untouched.

According to WDWNT, blue-gray walls now stretch from Pym Test Kitchen to the corner of the Disney Animation building. Though the temporary barricades block the old Tower of Terror FastPass kiosk, some of the Art Deco theming, including the red clock, remains visible above the walls. There is a small gap in the construction barriers to allow Disney cast members to enter the area if necessary.
Disneyland Resort hasn’t made any public comments about this project. It’s unclear whether the park plans to remove the structure entirely or retheme it to match the current Avengers Campus area at Disney California Adventure Park.
