Splash Mountain Retheme Closed After Unruly Guest Roams Restricted Ride Areas

On Monday, Walt Disney World Resort’s version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure shut down after a man reportedly jumped the fence into a restricted area of the log flume ride. According to Disney Park guests, the ride was closed for much of the evening after security cast members apprehended the man.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure premiered at Magic Kingdom Park in June 2024, months before its Disneyland Park counterpart. The rethemed Splash Mountain attraction takes guests on a musical journey with the cast of The Princess and the Frog (2009), including Princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), Louis (Michael-Leon Wooley), Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos), and Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis).

On May 12, Redditor u/Legitimate_Try148 asked other Walt Disney World Resort fans about an incident on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure around 8:00 p.m. The Disney Park guest witnessed cast members escort a man away from the ride before evacuating everyone else on board.

Another Magic Kingdom Park guest, u/ugahairydawgs, watched the situation unfold from the bridge over part of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Frontierland.

“Some guy was down in the area at the bottom of the drop looking for his hat,” the Disney Park guest explained. “Assuming he jumped the fence after riding. He was down there for a couple of the logs coming down before they got the ride shut down. He was walking along the walkway and kept digging in the water for the hat and never found it.”

The man repeatedly ignored Disney cast members’ instructions to leave the area.

“They had people yelling at him to get out and a CM on the intercom telling him to stop moving, but he just ignored it all,” the Redditor continued.” They finally got someone to him and escorted him through the tunnel.”

According to other Magic Kingdom Park guests, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was closed most of the evening after the incident. It briefly reopened, but shut down again before the After-Hours park access for Deluxe Disney Resort guests began.

“I walked all the way over there since it’s not open for after hours and then it was closed, I was pissed,” said u/FileExpensive6135. “Then after the fireworks they opened it but I was already standing in line for Tron and couldn’t get out of the line and then they closed Tiana’s. People are beyond stupid and entitled.”
