Disneyland Guest Says She “Drowned” on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

A Disneyland Resort visitor went viral on Instagram after claiming she “drowned” while riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in the front row. The guest’s video sparked debate over whether riders should expect to get soaked on the rethemed log flume.

Instagram user @evesbeautycanvas initially hesitated to wear a poncho before riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park. After experiencing the attraction’s final drop from the front row, she was grateful she did.

“PSA: do NOT ride Tiana’s front row unless you want to drown,” she wrote in the caption of a now-viral reel. “…I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS! I thought the ponchos was a lil OD but babbbyy if I didn’t have it on…I would have had to buy a whole outfit or go home.”

The video collected thousands of likes and hundreds of comments. Many criticized the Disney Park guest for not expecting to get wet on a log flume ride.

“Wait you mean SPLASH mountain?” @kimadict wrote.

“Girl u did not drown,” @dro143_ commented.

Others sympathized with her experience.

“I will never ride this ride again,” said @bethinnocenti. “Rode it on my birthday and of course they put me in front row. It really doesn’t matter where you’re seated you get soaked. Horrible to have soppy shoes, socks and pants.”

“When I rode this for the first time it felt like I got baptized,” @yesitsmolly_ replied.

About Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure replaced Splash Mountain at Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Park in 2024. The rethemed log flume replaced the controversial Song of the South (1946) theme with a story set after The Princess and the Frog (2009).

Guests join Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louis, and Mama Odie as they recruit musicians for a New Orleans bayou party. The ride uses the same system as Splash Mountain, though Walt Disney Imagineers updated some components during the closure. Many Disneyland Resort guests report the Bayou Country attraction is wetter than the previous iteration.

Ongoing Technical Problems

Despite operating for over a year on both coasts, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure continues experiencing maintenance issues. A recent viral video showed the final Princess Tiana audio-animatronic at Magic Kingdom Park after losing her wig, with her partially-exposed head convulsing in front of riders.

A week earlier, Disneyland Park guests were evacuated after their log began filling with water. Photos showed the log nearly full of murky ride water. All affected guests received vouchers for replacement clothing.
