That’s Scary: Guests Wait Three and a Half Hours for Character Meet-And-Greet at Opening Night of Mickey’s Halloween Party
There are a few things in life that are worth waiting over three hours for. There are even fewer when you are paying hundreds of dollars for a ticket to enter Magic Kingdom.
Last night was the opening of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. By all accounts, it was a great success, even though it forced Disney to transform Magic Kingdom into a fall wonderland in the middle of August.
Fans were thrilled to meet some of their favorite characters and walk around Magic Kingdom trick-or-treating, especially when they found out that some of the stops were giving out full-sized candy bars. Honestly, who doesn’t love that one house in the neighborhood that gives out the full-size candy?
The exclusive ticketed event ran from 7 p.m. until midnight; however, the tickets allowed guests to enter Magic Kingdom at 4 p.m. This means that if guests arrived at the opening, they would have to spend eight hours in the park, with presumed lower crowds, for only $149 plus tax.
For some guests, the price is worth the experience of lower crowds, special meet-and-greets, and new food offerings. For some guests, though, it quickly turned into a nightmare.
At some points throughout the night, the posted wait time to meet Jack Skellington and Sally from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) was 130 minutes. However, for some guests, this is one of the only chances they’ll get to meet the infamous characters.
Some guests took to social media to point out that they ended up waiting three hours and 34 minutes to meet the duo, taking up nearly half the time they were in the park. Most people agreed that waiting that long for any character is insane; even waiting the posted 130 minutes seems a bit much for such a short party, but once you’re in line, you’re in the game and might as well stay.
It’s hard to blame Disney for this, or anyone for that matter. It was opening night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and the sold-out event was packed.
Now you know: when it says 130 minutes, you could wait over three hours for a few minutes with your favorite characters.
