‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ Gets Immersive Experience for the Holidays
The holidays are a season for stories that warm the heart, and Rockport Public Library in the US is inviting families to step into one of the most beloved Christmas tales of all time.
According to PenBay Pilot, on December 13, the venue will host a special screening of the beloved 1992 holiday classic The Muppet Christmas Carol, with immersive touches that will transport attendees to Dickensian England, without the need for a time machine.
In an extra magical twist, guests are encouraged to arrive in pajamas or Victorian-style costumes, adding a playful charm to the upcoming event. Upon arrival, an actor portraying Charles Dickens will greet children and families (sadly not Gonzo the Great’s version from the film), setting the scene for a festive afternoon steeped in tradition.

Adding to the atmosphere, costumed story characters will circulate among the audience, offering baked treats and hot cocoa, perfect for enjoying before the film begins. Although it’s unclear whether any of these actors will be dressed as Muppets or the more traditional occupants of Charles Dickens’ wintry 1840s London (best to assume the latter is the case).
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) has become a holiday staple for its unique combination of humor, heart, and music. And, of course, for its Muppets. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo the Great, and the rest of the gang bring a truly whimsical energy to Charles Dickens’ timeless story of the merry-less miser Ebenezer Scrooge.

Whether it’s the warmth of cocoa in hand, the sight of Dickens wandering around, or the beloved film itself, this immersive screening promises to be a celebration of holiday cheer.

Of course, as this type of screening is only showing in one venue, don’t worry — The Muppet Christmas Carol is also streaming on Disney+. Depending on where you live, you might also be able to catch it at the Prince Charles Cinema in London’s West End, or in one of many venues up and down the UK where it’s being played before a live orchestra.
