Test Track is once again welcoming guests at EPCOT—but its grand reopening hasn’t come without a few unexpected twists. The reimagined attraction officially opened to all parkgoers on July 22, 2025, delivering a sleek update to the World Discovery area. With new visuals, a refreshed storyline, and an homage to the original World of Motion, this version carries forward EPCOT’s roots in motion and design.
Guests were eager to experience the changes early. Annual Passholder previews ran from July 13 through July 19, using a virtual queue via the My Disney Experience app. Spots were made available at 7:00 a.m. with a park reservation and again at 1:00 p.m. without one. On the first preview day, all virtual queue slots were claimed in just three seconds, showing strong demand. By July 18, some Passholders noted that cast members were allowing entry with credential checks, streamlining the experience.
In the days leading up to its official return, soft openings on July 20 and 21 gave even more guests a look at the updates. The attraction used a standby line during this quiet preview period, giving visitors a chance to see the new design up close.
Once the doors opened on July 22, the reaction was immediate. Within 15 minutes of park opening, the standby wait time hit 150 minutes, stretching past the attraction itself and wrapping toward the Creations Shop.
Test Track now also plays a different role in the park’s planning tools. As of this summer, it has joined the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system as a top-tier option, replacing Soarin’ Around the World. Guests can experience it via standby or as part of their selected Lightning Lane trio. Here’s how EPCOT’s updated Lightning Lane tiers currently stand:
Choose one from:
Frozen Ever After
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Test Track
Then select two (or all three) from:
Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival
Journey into Imagination with Figment
Living with the Land
Mission: SPACE
The Seas with Nemo & Friends
Soarin’ Around the World
Spaceship Earth
Turtle Talk with Crush
Test Track had temporarily closed on June 17, 2024, for this full-scale transformation. Its return marks a new chapter for EPCOT’s legacy of innovation.
However, not all guests have had the chance to enjoy the updated ride. During the Disney After Hours event at EPCOT on July 31, visitors were met with signage noting the attraction would be “available for limited hours tonight.” The ride did not operate during the event, which surprised some fans. While attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind are featured during After Hours, Test Track is not listed on the official Walt Disney World site as part of the event lineup.
Across the resort, another debut made waves. At Magic Kingdom, the Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away Parade officially premiered on July 20 after two preview nights. It now runs at 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., bringing a new nighttime spectacle to Main Street, U.S.A.
As summer continues, Walt Disney World is offering returning favorites and new additions across all four parks. Whether revisiting Test Track’s legacy or watching a parade light up the night, there’s something for every kind of guest—just be sure to double-check what’s open during those special ticketed events.
