Banned for Life: Shocking Taser Arrest at Cedar Point Leads to Lifetime Six Flags Ban After Assault on Transgender Guest

What was supposed to be a celebratory birthday trip to one of America’s premier amusement parks quickly devolved into a public nightmare, resulting in a dramatic police chase and a historic corporate ban. An 18-year-old Ohio man is facing a string of criminal charges after allegedly attacking a transgender woman on a crowded midway at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. The unprovoked assault sparked a chaotic foot pursuit across the theme park’s property, ending only after law enforcement officers deployed a Taser to subdue the fleeing suspect.

In the wake of the incident, the parent company of Cedar Point has handed down its absolute strictest penalty, issuing a lifetime ban against the teenager that bars him from entering dozens of amusement parks across North America. As the legal system moves forward, new details from the police reports and the suspect’s recent courtroom arraignment have intensified the public conversation surrounding guest safety and anti-transgender bias.

The Midway Incident: A Cruel and Targeted Assault

The disturbing sequence of events took place at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26. The victim was visiting Cedar Point alongside her close friend, April Dempster, to celebrate a birthday. As the two were walking through the park’s heavily trafficked midway, they were approached from behind by the suspect, identified by authorities as Marquez Williams of Fremont, Ohio.

According to official police records from the Sandusky Police Department, Williams intentionally pulled down the victim’s skirt and underwear. This aggressive action completely exposed the woman’s private anatomy to a large crowd of nearby park guests, which included multiple young children.

The victim explicitly told responding officers that she firmly believed Williams targeted her specifically because of her transgender identity. Witnesses noted that the humiliation appeared deliberate, as Williams allegedly used his mobile phone to film the entire assault while laughing, before immediately turning to flee deeper into the park.

The Foot Chase and Taser Deployment

Rather than letting the suspect disappear into the amusement park crowds, April Dempster immediately gave chase. Dempster pursued the 18-year-old across a massive portion of the park’s midways.

“I ran from the midway all the way to the front gate,” Dempster later recalled to local news outlets. “And when I got to the front gate I saw him and I saw a security officer. So I flagged a security officer while I was running, and kept pointing at the guy.”

Despite being spotted by park security and ordered to stop by responding Sandusky police officers, Williams refused to comply. He bolted past the front turnstiles and sprinted directly into the main Cedar Point parking lot.

The police report outlines a highly dangerous scene where Williams actively wove between rows of parked and moving vehicles in an attempt to lose the officers. After the teenager repeatedly ignored direct verbal commands to halt, an officer deployed a Taser, striking Williams and instantly ending the pursuit. Williams sustained a minor scrape to his face during the takedown and was briefly transported to a local hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Erie County Jail.

Legal Revisions and a High School Graduation Twist

On Wednesday, June 3, Williams appeared before Judge Michael Kaufman in the Sandusky Municipal Court for his formal arraignment. Accompanied by his defense attorney, the teenager entered a plea of not guilty to the revised list of criminal charges brought against him.

The prosecution’s formal complaint revealed significant adjustments to the initial charges:

  • Dismissed: The original charge of public indecency was officially dropped by prosecutors.
  • Maintained: Williams maintained his not guilty pleas to charges of persistent disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstructing official business.
  • Added: Prosecutors filed a brand-new theft charge against the teenager, a first-degree misdemeanor.

While a first-degree misdemeanor theft charge carries a potential penalty of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, court documents have not yet publicly detailed what property Williams is accused of stealing during the midway encounter. Williams had previously been released from custody after posting 10% of an $8,000 bond (totaling $800).

To the frustration of the victim’s supporters, Williams was permitted to return home and walk across the stage at his high school graduation ceremony less than a week after his arrest. Fremont City Schools Superintendent Denice Hirt confirmed Williams’ participation in the commencement ceremony but strictly declined to comment further on the student’s open criminal matter.

Six Flags Issues All-Inclusive Lifetime Ban

While the criminal case works its way through the Ohio judicial system, Cedar Point’s corporate leadership acted swiftly to ensure Williams is permanently removed from their properties. Following a massive corporate merger, Cedar Point is operated under the global umbrella of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.

In an official public statement, a spokesperson for the amusement park group condemned the behavior and announced the ultimate penalty:

“Cedar Point is a family-friendly environment, and we do not tolerate disruptive or inappropriate behavior,” the company stated. “Guests who violate our Code of Conduct are not welcome in our parks, and this guest has been banned from all Six Flags parks for life.”

This massive lifetime ban legally bars Williams from entering any Six Flags- or Cedar Fair-owned theme parks, water parks, or resort properties across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. To ensure strict adherence, Judge Kaufman codified this restriction directly into the suspect’s active bond conditions, warning Williams that entering any Six Flags property or making any form of contact with the victim would result in his immediate re-arrest.

The Emotional Aftermath and Trauma

Behind the corporate statements and legal filings sits a deeply traumatized victim whose vacation was entirely upended by a public act of degradation. April Dempster detailed the severe psychological toll the assault took on her friend during what was supposed to be a celebratory escape.

Dempster shared that immediately following the attack, the victim was left completely devastated and profoundly shaken. For the first few days of their trip, the victim refused to leave their hotel room, terrified to step outside or interact with the public. Though Dempster credited Cedar Point staff for their incredibly supportive and helpful immediate response, the emotional scars remain deep. The victim eventually found the courage to re-enter the park to finish out the vacation’s final days, but the joy of the trip was permanently erased. Williams is scheduled to return to the Sandusky Municipal Court in the coming weeks for a mandatory pretrial hearing.
