Original Landscape of Disneyland Changed for Park Guests Overnight
Disneyland Resort made a surprise addition to Sleeping Beauty Castle overnight. Here’s everything we know about the mystery structure at Disneyland Park.
On Tuesday, August 26, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DisneyScoopGuy shared these photos of a Disneyland70-themed stage set up in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park. The stage is decorated with colorful banners and flowers that match the other “Celebrate Happy” anniversary decorations around Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, including the ones on Sleeping Beauty Castle.
There’s a Disneyland 70th anniversary stage set up in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle this morning!
Disneyland Resort didn’t share any information about its plans for the stage, and guests didn’t see any performances on Tuesday, August 26. However, there’s a plausible explanation.
As part of World Princess Week, Disney Parks Blog announced that a Disney Princess-themed concert filmed in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park will premiere on YouTube on August 29. Disney teased that the show would also celebrate Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary, making it all the more likely that it’s related to the recent stage installation.
The performance, which will later stream on Disney+, will star Jodi Benson of The Little Mermaid (1989), Paige O’Hara of Beauty and the Beast (1991), Anika Noni Rose of The Princess and the Frog (2009), and Auliʻi Cravalho of Moana (2016). The show will be hosted by Ginnifer Goodwin, of Zootopia (2016) and ABC’s Once Upon A Time, and Susan Egan, of Hercules (1997) and the original Broadway cast of “Beauty and the Beast.”
The Disney Princess concert is the latest in a long list of Disneyland70 festivities at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Disneyland Park welcomed new and returning entertainment offerings like the “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade,” the Wondrous Journeys fireworks, the Paint the Night parade, “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” and the Tapestry of Happiness projection show on “it’s a small world.” “it’s a small world” also introduced an all-new song verse written by the late Sherman brothers.
Disney California Adventure Park is celebrating, too, with Disneyland70-themed updates to Toy Story Midway Mania!, the interactive World of Color Happiness! show, and the Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade. Of course, guests can purchase anniversary-themed merchandise, food, and beverages throughout the Southern California Disney parks.
