Star Tours Closes Indefinitely: You Might’ve Missed Your Chance To Ride

If you’re visiting Disneyland Resort in the next three months, you won’t be able to blast off on Star Tours – The Adventure Continues. As of July 2, 2025, the Tomorrowland attraction is now closed for a lengthy scheduled refurbishment.

The original Star Tours, a collaboration with George Lucas far before The Walt Disney Company owned Lucasfilm, opened at Disneyland Park in 1987. In 1989, versions opened in Disney’s Hollywood Studios (then Disney-MGM Studios) at Walt Disney World Resort and Tokyo Disneyland at Tokyo Disney Resort. Disneyland Paris Resort introduced its own Star Wars simulator attraction at Disneyland Park in 1992.

Throughout the 2010s, all four Disney parks reimagined the simulator rides into Star Tours – The Adventure Continues. The new storyline features characters and locations from all nine Skywalker saga films, intertwining the original trilogy with films produced after The Walt Disney Company purchased Lucasfilm. Some of the attractions, including Disneyland Resort’s, have seen additional updates inspired by The Mandalorian and other Disney+ series in the Star Wars universe.

Unfortunately, for the foreseeable future, Southern California Disney park guests will have to save their intergalactic adventures for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. On Wednesday, the Tomorrowland simulator attraction closed for a scheduled refurbishment. Construction walls now block guests’ access to the attraction’s entrance and exit inside The Star Trader gift shop, with signs reading: “Star Tours flights are cancelled during refurbishment. Please enjoy other Tomorrowland attractions.”

Disneyland Resort’s official website doesn’t list a reopening date for Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. A notice reads, “Star Tours—The Adventures Continue is currently closed for refurbishment. Please check back here for updates.”

However, Disneyland Resort cast members told WDWNT that the attraction would remain closed through at least September.

  1. I’m going to guess Disney will eventually remove Star Tours and the Indiana Jones Stunt show in favor of Zootopia.
