A young couple in love with each other, Disney, and all things outer space recently combined their lives and their loves during an out-of-this-world wedding ceremony in front of Spaceship Earth at EPCOT.
Brooke Weber and Jared Merenuk are huge Disney fans.
“I grew up going to Disney, and my grandma is in Tampa, so we would come to Disney in the winter every year,” explains Weber. She says her fiance-now-husband visited Disney World when he was young as well.
“Since we moved [to Florida], we’ve tried to go [to Disney World] more often,” Weber said. “Our cats are even named Mickey and Minnie.”
Brooke and Jake are also huge space fans, having met one another at Georgia Tech, where both were studying Aerospace Engineering. As providence would have it, the two were lab partners. That was more than three years ago. The couple recently moved to Florida to pursue their careers in the space industry. Both Brooke and Jake are on staff at Boeing, working on the Space Launch System rocket for the Artemis mission.
“We can have interesting conversations about space and space travel, so I think it’s kind of cool,” Jared said. “We nerd out together.”
“Jared decided the perfect place to propose would be the . . . Kennedy Space Center,” said Brooke, “since our love of space brought us together, and because ‘he loves me to the moon and back,’ like the Artemis missions.”
So after the young couple got engaged outside the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Space Center in Florida, they knew a space-themed ceremony at Disney was for them, and they could think of no better location for their wedding than the Walt Disney World Resort–specifically, at Spaceship Earth just inside the gates at EPCOT.
The giant geodesic sphere would serve as the perfect backdrop during the couple’s ceremony, which would merge their lives and their affinities for space, Disney, and each other.
But the Spaceship Earth structure was just the beginning. Brooke said that the theme of space was something she wanted as a part of her wedding day.
“We wanted spaceship-shaped cups and spaceship decor,” she said.
Brooke wore a Snow White dress from Disney’s 2022 Snow White Bridal Gowns Platinum Collection. The gown featured dimensional floral and sequin appliques and apple blossoms throughout the bodice and waistline of the dress.
The couple’s special day began at Magic Kingdom. They visited the park with their bridal party and everyone had the opportunity to sample new treats created by the culinary geniuses at Disney in celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
Weber and Mernuk also got a special surprise from Minnie and Mickey Mouse.
The couple was married that evening during a beautiful ceremony in front of Spaceship Earth at EPCOT.
