Something Is Missing at Disney World and It’s Causing Travel Chaos

If you’re trying to lock in your holiday trip to Disney World and hitting nothing but dead ends—yeah, you’re not alone. As of July 7, something that should’ve been released by now just… isn’t. And it’s throwing a wrench into a lot of people’s end-of-year plans.

Every year, Disney fans mark their calendars for two key events that define the holiday season: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios. These aren’t just side perks—they’re the big-ticket reasons many families book trips in November and December.

But here’s the kicker: Disney still hasn’t announced the dates, prices, or ticket info for either event. Nothing. Zip. And it’s already well into July.

What’s the Holdup?

Typically, Disney reveals holiday party details in late June or early July, giving guests time to plan around them. But this year? Crickets. With Halloween party tickets having already been on sale for months, people are understandably confused. And frustrated.

The delay has thrown a major curveball at guests trying to finalize trips, especially families with school schedules, limited vacation days, or those trying to grab hard-to-book dining reservations. Not knowing when these events are happening makes planning almost impossible.

Could This Be the Week?

Some insiders think this might finally be the week Disney drops the long-awaited announcement. In past years, this first chunk of July has always been prime time for the reveal. Fans are hoping the company is just finalizing a few details or working out changes to the party formats before making things official.

There’s also a theory floating around that Disney wanted to give space to the recent closure of Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle Riverboat before shifting attention to Christmas.

Passholder Discount Silence Too

On top of the party blackout, Annual Passholders are still waiting on news about holiday resort discounts. Last year, those deals helped make holiday vacations a bit more affordable—and without them, some folks are holding off completely.

Every day that passes without an update increases the risk that fans will miss out on their preferred hotel or event date. And with Disney resorts filling up fast, there’s not much wiggle room.

The Bottom Line

There’s no doubt the holidays are one of the most magical times to visit Disney World—but only if you can actually plan for it. Right now, guests are stuck in limbo, and frustration is building. If Disney really does plan to announce something this week, they better do it soon. Otherwise, travel chaos might just be the new Christmas tradition.

Andrew Boardwine

A frequent visitor of Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, Andrew will likely be found freefalling on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean. Over at Universal, he'll be taking in the thrills of the Jurassic World Velocicoaster and Revenge of the Mummy
