Disney Dining Serving up the latest Disney Eats, Treats, News, and More!
Walt Disney World had a special celebration as they awarded two of their Skippers a special award. Two skippers were given the Skippers of the Year award at Magic Kingdom Park, not only that their photos are now a part of the the themed show. The first skipper awarded is Jay Friesner an Attractions Host at Jungle Cruise and Richard Reyes, Food & Beverage Coordinator at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen. They were nominated for the award and selected by their fellow cast members for having the best attributes of a Skipper. Walt Disney Imagineering took photos of the two of them and aged them to fit in with the 1930’s era that matched the locations.
According to Disney Parks Blog, “Guests can spot the photos on Skipper of the Year plaques located inside the Jungle Cruise queue and along the wall of Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen – while also interacting with the real life Skippers. Started last year at Magic Kingdom Park, it’s a truly unique recognition program that could only happen at Disney.”
