Walt Disney World Resort is constantly evolving and now we have new developments to share with you, particularly if you’re planning a September vacation.
As a Disney Parks fan, there’s nothing quite like the excitement of planning a trip to “The Most Magical Place on Earth.” But as any seasoned Disney enthusiast knows, a little bit of preparation can go a long way, especially when you’re visiting during a time of scheduled ride closures and upcoming changes.
September 2024 is shaping up to be an interesting month at Walt Disney World Resort, with some big developments on the horizon that could impact your visit. Let’s dive into what you need to know so you can plan your trip like a pro!
EPCOT: A Major Attraction Under Refurbishment
First up, let’s talk about EPCOT. If you’re like me, you probably have Test Track high on your must-do list.
Unfortunately, Test Track is going to be closed throughout September and beyond indefinitely into the future as part of a major refurbishment that started back in June. As someone who loves the thrill of this ride, I’m definitely bummed that it won’t be available. But I’m also excited to see what new elements Disney has in store for us when it reopens in 2025.
EPCOT is constantly evolving, and while it’s tough to miss out on Test Track, there’s still so much to enjoy at the Disney World park—especially during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. I’ll definitely be spending extra time exploring the festival’s global marketplaces and trying new dishes!
Magic Kingdom: Iconic Rides Undergoing Maintenance
Now, let’s move over to Magic Kingdom. Two of my all-time favorite attractions, Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan’s Flight, are going to be closed for maintenance during September.
Jungle Cruise is currently down from now through October 17, so if you’re visiting during that time, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for your next expedition through the jungle. It’s a classic ride that I never skip, so I’m a little disappointed, but I know these refurbishments are necessary to keep the magic alive.
Peter Pan’s Flight just reopened with a reimagined scene, which caused a commotion among the Disney community.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: New Developments on the Horizon
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is always a blast, and September 2024 is going to be an exciting time for the park.
There aren’t any scheduled ride closures, but construction is set to begin on a brand-new Monsters, Inc.-themed land. I can’t wait to see how this new area will bring Monstropolis to life! While the construction might cause a few minor disruptions, most of the park’s attractions will still be up and running.
Personally, I’m eager to see how this new addition will fit in alongside Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It feels like Hollywood Studios needs to grow, and that’s part of what makes it so exciting to visit.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom: A New-Themed Area in the Works
Over at Animal Kingdom, big changes are coming with the permanent closure of DinoLand U.S.A. This area will be transformed into a new themed land inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones.
As much as I’ve enjoyed DinoLand U.S.A. over the years, I’m thrilled about what’s coming next. Combining the magic of Encanto with the adventure of Indiana Jones sounds like a dream come true! While there aren’t any specific ride closures in September, the construction will eventually reshape this part of the park, so I’m planning to soak in the last bit of DinoLand nostalgia before the changes begin.
Water Parks: Seasonal Maintenance at Blizzard Beach
For those of us who love cooling off at the water parks, it’s important to note that Blizzard Beach will be closed for the entire month of September for its usual seasonal maintenance. Luckily, Typhoon Lagoon will remain open, so there’s still plenty of aquatic fun to be had.
As a Disney Parks fan, I know how important it is to stay up to date with the latest news and changes. With these closures and upcoming developments in mind, I’m planning my September 2024 trip with flexibility in mind. It’s always a good idea to have a backup plan and to be prepared for any last-minute changes that might pop up.
