At today’s (May 27th) Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force meeting, Walt Disney World shared their proposal dates and plans for reopening. If you missed our article regarding Walt Disney World’s reopening, click here. Walt Disney Wold was not the only theme park sharing their reopening plans, as SeaWorld set a proposal as well. Here are the details as follows:
SeaWorld representatives at the meeting included Mark Swanson, Interim CEO, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Kyle Miller, President of SeaWorld Orlando, and Bradley Gilmour, Vice President of Operations, Discovery Cove.
They proposed the reopening dates of June 10 for target guests including an Employee Appreciate Night. On June 11, they would like to open to the public.
The health and safety protocols match many of those Walt Disney World is placing forward including the requirement of face coverings for guests and employees, social distancing, increased sanitizing, and temperature checks.
With a focus on social distancing, signage will clearly outline procedures. There will also be contact-less payments and Plexiglas for separation between employees and guests.

Restaurants will practice physical distancing with modification to some prepackaged items for less contact. Shops will have dedicated entrances and exits with payment and scanning through Plexiglas.
Even though plans have been submitted, Orange County Mayor, Jerry Demings, must sign off on the plans before they can be submitted to Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis.
Universal Orlando Resort was the first to submitted their reopening plans at the Orange County Task Force Meeting on May 21. Their proposal of opening to the public on June 5th was approved. We predict Walt Disney World and SeaWorld’s proposals will be approved without any hiccups as well.
