Review of Amorette’s Patisserie: A Dessert Fantasyland

One of my favorite things about Disney Springs are all of the dessert and sweet treat opportunities it brings us.  In fact, in a lot of cases I recommend skipping dessert at your dinner restaurant, do some shopping, and then stop into one of these dessert specialty restaurants for a treat.  Amorette’s Patisserie ranks right up there as one of my favorites.  All of the photos I saw online were beautiful, but the paled in comparison with the actual experience at the restaurant.

Amorette’s Patisserie is located in the Town Center area of Disney Springs, right beside one of the side entrances to World of Disney.  It is in a great location convenient to all of the main shopping in Disney Springs.  Should you want to go just to pick up a cake you would park in the Lime Garage . . . and no one would judge you if you went to Disney Springs for these amazing cakes. In fact, it is a great option if you are celebrating a special occasion while you are on your Walt Disney World Vacation.  The gorgeous signature cake or one of the large dome cakes would be perfect for this.

First, the atmosphere.  Amorette’s is filled with whimsical details inside and out.  It really feels like you are entering an enchanted storyland of desserts.  I went fairly early one day (I actually had to wait on them to open), so I was one of the handful of customers in the shop.  The amazing staff greeted me as I entered and took the time to explain each selection to me along with the process of making each one on site.  You’ll find the mouthwatering display of desserts along with artisans working on both the cakes and the crepes they serve.

Once you get over the awe of the beauty of the treats offered it is time to make some selections.  I was happily surprised at the affordability of the smaller dessert portions. They are definitely a splurge, but for the artistry (and deliciousness) they are a good value.  There are small portions of cheesecake, tarts, boxed macaroons, eclairs, cookies, oh my!  But the item I could not resist was the small domed Mickey Cake—adorable!

Because it was the last full day of our vacation, we had a refrigerator in the room, we were driving and we had a cooler, I made the very difficult decision to resist temptation and bring this cake home to share with the rest of the family who didn’t get to travel with us.  While you can eat your treat right there on tables (with outside seating), they will also box and package your dessert up to go.  And it is a beautiful presentation, so even a selection of small desserts becomes a celebration.

After safely transporting Mickey back home we were all ready to dig in!  The official name for this dessert is the Mickey Mousse . . . very cute and gives you a hint at what to expect under the colorful exterior.  This chocolatey dessert is made with Chocolate Chiffon Cake, Chocolate Pudding, and White Chocolate Mousse.  The cake was light as expected, and the textures and flavors of the pudding and mousse were spot on.  It all worked very well together to produce a delicious and sweet dessert that wasn’t overly sweet.  It received 5 thumbs up from my family.

With all of the great choices at Disney Springs it is hard to make time and room to try everything (quite literally), but I hope that you will give Amorette’s Patisserie a try on your next stop to Disney Springs.  The beautiful presentation will draw you in, but the fantastic staff and the delicious flavors will bring you back.  I can’t wait until my next visit.

Have you been to Amorette’s Patisserie?  Which dessert treat was your favorite?
