REPORT: Disney Plans To Open Two More ‘Avatar’ Theme Park Areas

A recent leak from Disneyland Paris Resort suggests that the park may be developing an Avatar (2009) land, similar to the one in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park at Walt Disney World Resort. The rumors started after Disney shared 3D renderings related to the announcement of the grand opening of Disney Adventure World and the World of Frozen.

Disney Adventure World Unveils New Details Ahead of Opening

On Monday, Disneyland Paris Resort showcased a first look at the experiences planned for Disney Adventure World, the redesigned version of Walt Disney Studios Park set to open on March 29, 2026. The preview included images and videos of a next-generation Olaf audio-animatronic, the Raiponce Tangled Spin attraction, and the new nighttime show, Disney Cascade of Lights.

The production will feature drones, pyrotechnics, and water effects, all inspired by Mulan (1998), Hercules (1997), Moana (2016), Zootopia (2016), Up (2009), and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will combine new arrangements of Disney classics with an original song titled “We Can Be Heroes.”

Concept Art Sparks Discussions About Future Expansions

Disney Parks fans quickly noticed something unusual on the 3D renderings of the floating stage that will anchor Disney Cascade of Lights. The structure is composed of five pieces, each marked with a label indicating the themed land it points toward.

🎆 For “Cascade of Lights”, a floating stage made of 5 big elements with lights, water screens, pyrotechnics and 379 drone launchpads will be pieced together silently by electric tug boats each night. Here’s a look at 3D renderings:

Fans recognized names such as “FROZEN,” “RACERS,” and “LION”—but one label in particular prompted immediate speculation: “NAVI.” The name corresponds to the Na’vi, the fictional people in the world of Avatar.

The labeled arm appears to point toward an undeveloped section of land currently used to test the future Lion King (1994) log flume ride. An updated map released during the event confirmed that this plot is not part of the designated Lion King area, making it a potential location for an Avatar expansion.

If the “NAVI” reference does signal an upcoming land, it would join two additional Avatar-themed experiences already connected to Disney’s global portfolio. In 2017, Pandora – The World of Avatar debuted in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park at Walt Disney World Resort. Meanwhile, Disneyland Resort has announced plans for an exclusive Avatar experience for Disney California Adventure Park as part of the DisneylandForward expansion. (A grand opening date has yet to be announced.)

Although the labeling appears deliberate, Disneyland Paris Resort has not announced an Avatar project for Disney Adventure World. It remains unknown whether the potential area would replicate elements from Pandora – The World of Avatar, or follow a new creative direction similar to the still-unrevealed plans for Disney California Adventure Park.
