Planning your Resort Day at Walt Disney World’s Beach Club Resort

All of Walt Disney World’s resorts offer amazing experiences, and I recommend that all of my clients plan in some time to really enjoy the amenities they offer—this is especially true at the Deluxe Resort properties.  In my mind, the Beach Club is one of the best places to plan an entire day (or more) just hanging out at the resort.  Here is my idea of how we could plan a perfect day enjoy the Beach Club.

1. Breakfast at Cape May Cafe

Good Morning!  It is time for breakfast to start our day off right. Let’s go down to the lobby for our reservation at Cape May Café.  This is one of my favorite character breakfasts, and I am sure you will love it too.  The characters here (Donald, Daisy, Goofy & Minnie) are adorable dressed in their beach gear, and every time I visit they spend a lot of time at our table.  The food here is really amazing too—nice and fresh, and a really nice variety of options.  Breakfast at Cape May Café is the perfect way to kick off the day.

2. Swim Time at Stormalong Bay

Now that we’ve filled our tummies, let’s go over to the pool to grab some prime spots, because Stormalong Bay is one of the biggest perks staying at the Beach Club.  The sand bottom pool has so many fun areas including a lazy river and a very thrilling water slide.  Since it is so popular, if we go mid-morning we will be more likely to get chairs.  Or, maybe we want to splurge for our pool time and spend a longer time by renting one of the brand new private cabanas they offer.  Either way, we will have fun relaxing in the sun and playing in the pool.

3. Lunch at Beaches & Cream

All of that playing has made me hungry, I think Beaches & Cream is the perfect spot for lunch.  You’ll want to have a reservation here as it is a small restaurant, and very popular.  The classic soda shop burgers are great here, and if we have a big enough group maybe we will want to try to conquer the Kitchen Sink—every flavor of ice cream and ALL of the toppings. Yummmmm!

4. An Afternoon of Choices

This afternoon we have some choices.  It is always fun to grab a hammock, swing, or chair on the beach and just watch the world go by, but we should check the activities calendar—sometimes they have a painting class we could participate in.  Or, if we really want to relax we can visit Ship Shape located between the Beach Club and Yacht Club for a massage, facial, manicure, or pedicure.  Even kids ages 4-12 can take part with the Sweet Treats Mani or Pedi.  Ship Shape also offers the Character Couture packages for grown-ups, and storybook themed makeovers for children ages 4-12.  This “spa” is not like those at Grand Floridian or Saratoga Springs, but it is still a nice amenity to have onsite at the Beach Club.  If you are feeling more competitive we can walk over to Fantasia Gardens for a round of miniature golf.  It is a nice walk past the Swan and Dolphin Resorts right over to the courses.  We can play the Gardens course which is traditional mini golf, or the more challenging Fairways course (which is ‘freeform”).  And don’t forget most Walt Disney World package bookings include passes to miniature golf.

5. Dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse

Tonight I have a really nice dinner planned at the Yachtsman Steakhouse.  While technically this is part of the Yacht Club, these sister resorts share amenities, and this signature dining establishment should not be missed.  We can take our time dining and enjoy excellent butcher cut steaks, fantastic enhancement options, delicious sides like truffle macaroni and cheese, along with expertly paired wines.  This dinner is truly an experience.

6. An Evening on the Boardwalk

After dinner we can change into more casual clothes, because I have an evening planned over at the Boardwalk!  We can walk over and stop to enjoy roasting some marshmallows on the beach along the way.  Then we can start our night at the Boardwalk by watching some of the entertainers present their shows—some juggle, some do magic tricks, and you may recognize others if you’ve watched shows in the World Showcase.  They always make for a fun start to the night.  If we want to continue the carnival theme we can even try our hand at a few games.  I doubt we will be hungry after all of the great meals we’ve had at the Beach Club, but if we wanted dessert there is no better place than Ample Hills Creamery. But I think challenging ourselves with a fun lap on the Surrey Bikes would be the best thing to do next.  After our ride it is just about time for the Epcot fireworks, and I know a couple of great spots to watch—we can’t see all of the effects, but we can enjoy the higher fireworks.  If we are a group of adults we are probably not ready for the fun to end, so let’s head in to Jelly Rolls and enjoy the dueling pianos along with a few nightcaps.  Luckily, the Beach Club is just across the water, and an easy walk back from the Boardwalk at the end of the night.

The Beach Club offers so many resort amenities, activities, and options it is almost hard to pull yourself away to visit the theme parks.  What are your favorite things to do on a resort day at the Beach Club?

I am a long time Disney fan since I was hooked on Walt Disney World with my first trip in 1987. Since that time I’ve tried experiencing everything I can in the parks, with a total of 30 visits and counting (I’m always planning my next trip) to Walt Disney World—not to mention Disney Cruise Line and even (shhh!) Universal Orlando and Sea World. I’ve turned my Disney obsession into a profession helping others plan their magical vacations as a Dream Vacation Maker at LBAC Travel. I am a work at home mom to three wonderful boys, and each one… More »
