Disneyland Guests Locked on Hotel Floor in the Darkness
A stay at Disneyland Resort‘s newly revamped Pixar Place Hotel turned into an unexpected nightmare for some guests, as a series of frustrating malfunctions left them trapped in a dimly lit room with no immediate solution in sight.
Luxury Hotel, Unexpected Problems
Pixar Place Hotel, which debuted in January 2024 after replacing Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, promised guests an immersive Pixar-themed experience with luxury accommodations, convenient access to Disney California Adventure Park, and nightly rates averaging around $600. However, some visitors say their stay fell far below the premium expectations.
Redditor u/poohsyourdaddy_03 shared details of their recent five-night visit, which was plagued by issues ranging from lighting failures to an unreliable elevator system that made moving between floors a logistical nightmare.
“The lights in our room didn’t work,” they wrote. “There’s a huge mural behind the beds which we never saw front lit as they’re meant to be seen.”
Elevators Leave Pixar Place Hotel Guests Stranded
The lack of lighting wasn’t the only inconvenience. The guest also recounted their struggles with the hotel‘s malfunctioning elevators, which added significant delays to their daily plans.
“The elevator system SUCKS,” they continued. “Really really really sucks. It’s a call system which I use at work but they send them all the way up before coming back down so if you’re on a lower floor, it gets to you already filled. It took me five cycles and 25 minutes to get downstairs from the 3rd floor with luggage. Request a higher floor if you stay here.”
For a Disney Resort hotel that prides itself on convenience, guests found themselves stuck—both in their rooms and in long waits just to get where they needed to go.
Exclusive Entrance? Not So Fast
Pixar Place Hotel boasts a private entrance to Disney California Adventure Park, an enticing perk for those looking to avoid the usual crowds. However, the guest found this benefit to be inconsistent at best.
“The Pixar entrance has been closing early each day,” they noted. “If I left the park and wanted to come back after 12, I had to use other entrances. What’s the point of having your own if it’s not always open?”
Other Pixar Place Hotel Guests Weigh In
Other visitors to Pixar Place Hotel shared similar frustrations, especially regarding the elevator system.
“Stayed there last fall during marathon weekend,” u/MidwesternTransplant commented. “Had the misfortune of checking out with all the marathoners. Every elevator was packed for 45 straight minutes, and one of the elevators (the Up one) was down during our entire visit. So sad to hear they haven’t remedied this.”
“We just stayed 5 nights last week and had an absolute blast,” u/metalgeargod replied. “I’m sorry to hear about your room issues, but our room was great. Quiet too, even though we were right next to the elevator. I will say the elevator situation was rough, but we didn’t have to wait more than a few minutes at most (we were on level 5). We were also bummed that the Pixar entrance closed at noon, however, we used it through the day to exit, which was a great perk.”
