RIP Haunted Mansion: Disney Ride Suddenly Shuts Down After Halloween Season
Just as the Halloween festivities wrapped up at Disneyland Paris Resort, the park’s darkest and most chilling attraction has gone eerily quiet. Phantom Manor—the European Disney park’s version of the Haunted Mansion—has officially closed to guests, with construction walls and barricades now surrounding the ride building in Frontierland.
The Haunted Mansion Legacy

The Haunted Mansion is one of Disney’s most storied attractions, haunting generations of guests around the world. Walt Disney originally envisioned it as a “museum of the weird,” and Imagineers transformed the concept into the playful yet spooky ride that made its debut in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park in 1969. Its instant popularity inspired new versions at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida (1971) and Tokyo Disneyland (1983), each one blending local cultural touches with the same ghostly charm.
When Imagineers designed Disneyland Paris Resort, they wanted a darker twist on the classic Omnimover ride. The result was Phantom Manor, a more gothic, dark take on the Haunted Mansion. Meanwhile, at Shanghai Disneyland, the attraction evolved once more into Mystic Manor: a completely spirit-free experience built around fantasy and adventure.
Sudden Closure at Disneyland Paris

Now, following a busy Halloween season, the ghosts at Phantom Manor are taking a short break. According to Disneyland Paris Resort’s official website, the Frontierland attraction has closed for refurbishment, and barricades currently block the path to the mansion.
Guests visiting Disneyland Park this week have reported that messaging onsite lists the closure lasting through November 14. While Disneyland Paris has not provided details about the reason behind the shutdown, the resort appears to be using the seasonal transition to complete maintenance and refresh the attraction.
