Our 10 Favorite Magic Kingdom Rides At Night

I love going into the Disney Parks at night. It’s like everything changes. Your perspective of these parks you think you know is flipped completely upside down. Magic Kingdom is especially great for all its amazing rides that feel very different at night. Here are our ten favorites:

10. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

If you can manage to actually get on this ride, you’ll know why it’s so popular. The climax of this rollercoaster comes when the mine train shoots out from the earth into the open air, swinging you along the way. I love this at night because you come speeding out and the first thing you see is the illuminated Castle. And it’s glorious. The first time I ever rode Mine Train was at night, so this definitely holds a special place in my heart.

9. Pirates of the Caribbean

Yes, Pirates of the Caribbean is a completely indoor ride. But it’s spooky, eerie, I mean – dead man tells no tales and fog and stuff, right? So going on this ride at night only ups the creepy factor. The vibe of Pirates is completely different at night and definitely worth checking out.

8. Splash Mountain

Guests flee to Splash Mountain during the day for a good soaking to cool down. While less needed at night, it’s still very fun. I love getting to the top of the ride, right before the drop, and looking out over the Kingdom. From there you can enjoy the view of a lit up Haunted Mansion and a sleepy (or not) Frontier Land.

7. Astro Orbiter

It is insanely cool to be up in the air, way above the rest of the park, at night on the Astro Orbiter. This ride is supposed to be like you’re traveling through space, right? Well, riding it at night makes that experience even better! Plus, the wait for this ride is nicer at night because the temperature is cooler and your queue time doesn’t have to be a bake.

6. People Mover

The People Mover is usually my go-to nap ride, but sometimes you just have to stay awake for it. All of Magic Kingdom feels different at night so People Mover is unique because you can have your own tour of this new experience right from the ride. It’s also nice that your eyes don’t have to adjust so harshly when you come out the Space Mountain part!

5. Prince Charming Regal Carrousel

I love all of Fantasyland at night. But the Carrousel is extra exciting at night because you get such a beautiful view of Cinderella Castle all lit up. There’s something so enchanting about this part of the park that just seems to sparkle at night.

4. Liberty Square Riverboat

This is less of a ride and more of a pleasure cruise, but I love it all the same. The Riverboat sails everyday until about 8 at night. But your time of the Riverboat at night is great because it’s cooler and easier to enjoy that outside deck.

3. Jungle Cruise

The Jungle Cruise is great at night for a lot of the same reasons as the Liberty Square Riverboat. I love the Jungle Cruise but it’s usually such a long line for a short, hot ride. Going on it at night is awesome because the heat isn’t as much of an issue. And it’s fun to see all the silly animals in a different light. The perspective is different, but the jokes are still just as corny.

2. Haunted Mansion

Much like Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion at night doesn’t change much. But it can be just a tad bit spookier. The winding wait is less oppressively hot at night, which definitely helps. But the Mansion itself is extra creepy all lit up, with shadows lurking. For an extra fright, go on Haunted Mansion at night!

1. Tomorrowland Speedway

Who doesn’t love these little cars, regardless of the time of day? As said over and over in this list – are you sensing a Florida theme? – the queue for the Speedway is way nicer at night. Since it’s all open, you won’t die of sun poisoning before you even get in the car. But the track is super sweet at night, lit up only by the lamps and flashing signs. Speed to the stars at a whopping 7 miles per hour.
