The Christmas season is the busiest season of the year for Walt Disney World. It is fairly standard that at least the Magic Kingdom will close to capacity early in the day on Christmas Day and later in the day on Christmas Eve. This year NO park closed to capacity at any point over these two days. We expect this may be related to the tiered theme park pricing. These two days see the highest costs to get into the parks, so that may have been enough to convince guests to stay away from the parks. Many Annual Passes also have these dates as blackout dates, so that would have restricted the amount of Annual Passholder visitors in the parks.
It will be interesting to see if there are any capacity closures over New Year’s Eve. This is another usual capacity closure day so that guests get the best views of the fireworks and ring in the new year from the most Magical place on Earth. We will keep you posted as we learn more about any park closures.
