With social distancing and a focus on contactless options amidst COVID-19, Walt Disney World has been very clear they are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of their guests upon the phased reopening beginning June 22 with select resorts and July 11 with the parks.
According to WDWNT.com, is appears Disney is now testing a new security scanning system which is currently taking place in the Lime Garage at Disney Springs at the entrance to the escalator.
The manufacturer of the walk through scanner, Evolv Express, states “It is the fastest weapons-screening system on the market, consistently screening 60 people every minute for firearms and other threats. That’s 3,600 people per hour, or 10X faster than a traditional checkpoint system.”

WDWNT.com shared that their reporter was at Disney Springs when Disney was testing the new system. “He was walked through the scanner, while having to put his camera and water bottle into a separate bin for security to check. He observed that many security officers were not pulling aside those with smaller bags or purses, but larger backpacks will probably still need to searched.”
Are you dropping by Disney Springs any time soon? You may have a chance to experience this new scanning system!
